Chapter 223
Perhaps because of those words, Zachary stopped resisting, and Sarah left with Melvin
Melvin and Uncle Shawn booked a hotel, planning to stay in East Coast for a few days.
James paced back and forth several times outside Sarah’s door before finally gathering the courage to knock.
Sarah opened the door. “Sarah, I…”
A stem voice interrupted, “Sasa, who is it?”
Uncle Shawn emerged from the living room. Seeing James, his face hardened as he moved to block Sarah from view. “Why are you here? Yesterday’s press conference made everything clear. You and Sasa have no connection anymore Please leave.”
“Uncle, I came to…
“Don’t call me uncle. You’re divorced from Sasa – we’re strangers now. Given what your family did to her, I could easily take advantage of your company’s current situation. Consider this a warning if you keep bothering her, I might do just that,” Uncle Shawn said coldly.
Melvin came out too, glancing dismissively at James before slamming the door.
Rebuffed, James had barely reached his car when he received a call from Charlotte’s parents, demanding to know why he
hadn’t brought their daughter home yet.
As he wearily handled that call, his secretary called next. Though Reynolds Corp had stopped pressuring them, finding new
reliable partners wouldn’t be easy.
Worse still, their factories were overflowing with inventory. After recent events, major partners were out of the question –
they could only hope for smaller businesses.
Upstairs, Sarah emerged from her bedroom ready to go out Melvin watched her like a guard dog. “Sasa, all dressed up – where are you going?”
She smiled helplessly, still wondering what Zachary had done to upset them. “Uncle Shawn, Melvin, I have an appointment with Professor Rogers about Mia’s psychological issues.”
Melvin relaxed, studying her face, “You mean Mia Reynolds?”
Sarah nodded, “Yes, she’s waiting downstairs.”
Melvin and Uncle Shawn exchanged looks and nodded.
Given permission, Sarah hurried downstairs where Mia had been waiting
“Get in,” Sarah opened her car.
Mia looked at Sarah tiraidly, “Sarah, your cousin seems to really hate my brother. Will he stop you from being together?”
Melvin and Uncle Shawn’s hostility toward Zachary was obvious, but Sarah reassured her, “No, I’ll get to the bottom of this”
Mia sighed in relief, “That’s good to hear.”
Scott was already at the café when they arrived, three coffees on the table.
“I wasn’t sure what you ladies preferred, so I ordered iced Americanos,” Scott said warmly
Sarah took a sip Though Professor Rogers was thirty–four, he looked much younger. He had an elegant, scholarly air, wearing wire–rimmed glasses
She smiled mildly. “Regarding Mia’s case, Jane must have briefed you, so I’ll be d
direct. I understand your research focuses on psychological treatment. I’ve been treating Mia for a while and can stabilize her condition but can’t eliminate the underlying
trauma Here’s het report
