Chapter 224
Sarah pulled out a stack of papers from her bag – Mia’s treatment reports
Scott looked through them briefly before setting them aside. “Jane mentioned this to me in M. Country. Mia developed psychological trauma from a kidnapping several years ago. That’s not unusual. What’s rare is her subconscious time–space disorientation when triggered”
“Based on her condition then, she likely had no one to trust. After witnessing violent scenes, her subconscious protected her
by blocking those memories. However, when triggered, she returns to that state. The difference now is your presence. I see from the report that you and Jane theorized it’s perception disorder when feeling unsafe, she pulls you, her most trusted person now, into past scenes. While possible, your treatment approach has a fundamental flaw it’s actually a paradox”
“A flaw?” Sarah looked at Scott puzzled.
“Yes. If she had no one to trust after the kidnapping, yet under stress chooses to pull you into that scenario- don’t you see the contradiction? In the real world back then, you didn’t exist,” Scott explained carefully.
Sarah suddenly understood. She’d been so focused on finding the gentlest treatment method that she’d forgotten the biggest contradiction – her very presence was a false premise
Indeed, countless mathematicians and physicists studying time travel and temporal displacement couldn’t escape such paradoxes.
Meanwhile, at St. Ritz restaurant, Zachary and Melvin met in a private room.
Steven served dishes himself, nervously watching the tense atmosphere.
“Why did Mr. Reynolds call me here? I see no reason for us to meet,” Melvin said irritably.
Zachary poured him a drink, “Mr. Sanders, I invited you to tell you I won’t give up. You must see that Sasa likes me, and I like
her too.”
Melvin stared at him expressionlessly, “You know why she reacts this way? If she knew the truth, do you think she’d stay
with you?”
Zachary fell silent, “She won’t find out ”
“If that’s all you wanted to say, I’ll leave now. Zachary, these are just empty words. If you can’t truly protect her, let her go.”
Zachary downed his drink, “I can! I promise you, I’ll protect her. What happened before will never happen again”
Melvin sneered, I’ve heard too many such
h promises. They’re meaningless. If you really care for her, let us take her away.
Being with you is most dangerous.”
Back at the cafe, Sarah thought for a long time, “You’re saying I should keep my distance.
Scott nodded slightly. Since you’ve tried so many methods without success, why not try
Try this.”
