Chapter 225
Sarah understood completely. Earlier attempts to help Mia feel safe trips to amusement parks, movie theaters, and various entertainment venues with Zachary had shown little success
Though Mia’s condition had stabilized, Sarah had questioned her treatment approach. They’d attempted hypnotherapy several times, but touching deeper memories triggered either episodes or blackouts. She hadn’t dared use any more aggressive methods.
“Psychological intervention isn’t about completely fixing patients,” Scott explained. “It’s about subtle suggestions. Like solving a mystery providing small clues until they piece everything together.”
Sarah nodded thoughtfully, “Professor, would recreating the traumatic scene be too triggering? Has this approach worked in other countries?”
“Never heard of success with that. Don’t attempt it,” Scott warned.
“I understand. Thank you, Professor.” Sarah rose from her seat.
“Anytime. Keep in touch if you need more guidance.”
At the restaurant’s private room, Zachary sat before a half–empty bottle of cognac, while Melvin’s wineglass remained barely touched.
“Listen, I know you don’t trust me,” Zachary said, “but I swear I won’t hurt her.”
“Pretty words,” Melvin scoffed. “But what happens if she returns?”
“She won’t!” Zachary’s eyes turned to ice.
“How can you be so sure? Did she promise you that?” Melvin sneered, pouring his remaining wine onto the floor. “You’re pathetic, Zachary. Stay away from Sarah, or Til make you. We’re done here.”
To keep Sarah and Zachary apart, Melvin moved into her spare room.
Three days passed without Sarah seeing Zachary once. Melvin even became her personal chauffeur after classes.
Unable to reason with them, she retreated to her room, restless and wondering if Zachary missed her as desperately as she
missed him
Sitting on her bed lost in thought, she noticed the bracelet on her wrist, remembering Zachary’s tenderness when he’d given it to her, the way he’d nervously called her “Sarah,” afraid she might reject him.
Her phone buzzed Zachary calling
Several seconds of silence passed after she answered. Just as she drew breath to speak, his voice came through “Missing
me?”
His familiar tone, slightly distorted by the connection, made her heart skip.
Sarah covered the microphone, nodding vigorously, “Yes”
“I miss you too,” he said earnestly
Sarah locked her door, “Zachary, tell me what happened between you and my cousin Why does it seem like you knew each
other before?”
Her curiosity remained unanswered, with everyone keeping silent.
Zachary paused before speaking carefully, “Sarah, there’ve been misunderstandings. It’s my fault. I’ll explain everything”
He seemed reluctant to continue, and she didn’t press further. “My cousin and uncle want to take me back home. I’m afraid….

“What?” Her heart raced as she hurried to look out, spotting a black Mercedes parked below.
There stood Zachary, leaning against the car, waving up at her. His voice came soft through the phone, “Finally seeing you.”
