Chapter 237
She was certain they were being followed
Her palms
s were sweaty with nerves. Mia finally noticed something w
wrong. “Sarah, what is it?”
“Nothing.” Sarah said softly. She couldn’t let Mia be in danger – Zachary had entrusted Mia to her care
As they walked, she tried calling Zachary repeatedly, but only got busy signals, What was he doing?
in out
At the airport arrival hall, Zachary frowned as he declined the call. He wanted to answer, but he’d spotted her coming
She wheeled her suitcase, fully disguised in sunglasses and mask. When she was about ten yards away, she took a call. After listening briefly, she smiled with satisfaction. “Continue”
She hung up casually, handed her luggage to Zachary, and removed her sunglasses, revealing expressive eyes.
Machary, I knew you’d come for me. She moved to embrace him, but he stepped back.
Pretending not to notice, she straightened up. “Still so cold? Aren’t you happy to see me?”
Zachary finally softened slightly. “It’s not that. I’m always like this. My grandfather wants to see you.
“Of course, let’s go together,” Vivian Wilson matched his pace, then added playfully, “You should say “Welcome home, Vivian.”
Zachary paused, his lips parting “Welcome home.”
His phone rang again. Vivian glanced coldly at it. “What’s keeping you so busy, dear?”
“Just spam calls,” he said, darkening the screen.
Sarah stared desperately at her phone – four unanswered calls. Hadn’t he seen them?
She was now certain multiple people were following them.
She knew this area well but wasn’t sure about their pursuers, She pulled Mia into an alley – a dead end!
Turning back, they found someone blocking their exit. She pushed Mia behind her protectively “Who are you? What do you
want?
The figure remained silent as more men appeared behind him.
Sarah’s mind raced – who would target her? And why now?
“Who are you? Stay back!” The men advanced without a word.
“Don’t come closer Sarah swung her bag defensively, but she couldn’t fight so many, especially while protecting Mia.
She felt Mia trembling, gripping her hand so tight it might break.
“I’m from the Sanders family, and she’s a Reynolds! Don’t try anything! Who sent you?”
She kept swinging her bag her only defense.
But they faced over a dozen men who rushed them at once.
Leaves rustled in the alley as sunset light filtered through, creating dappled shadows
Where Sarah and Mia had stood was now empty. The men had vanished too, leaving no trace, as if they’d never
never existed
At the restaurant, Zachary and Vivian sat opposite Mr. Reynolds and Mr. Wilson old friends from way back.
Mr. Reynolds looked approvingly at Vivian. “Are you planning to leave again?”
