Chapter 240
James stormed out of the Garnetts‘ mansion, Charlotte’s voice fading behind him. “James, wait!”
Behind the wheel of his Mercedes, he gripped the steering wheel until his knuckles turned white. The more he tried to push thoughts of Sarah away, the more they consumed him. Something wasn’t right he could feel it in his gut.
He tried Melvin again. Still busy. Sarah’s phone went straight to voicemail for the tenth time.
What if Charlotte was wrong? Sure, Sarah might have gone to see Zachary. But this silence, this complete disappearance – it felt deliberate Planned.
In darkness, Sarah couldn’t tell where they were being held. Her wrists were bound tight, a gag in her mouth, every muscle screaming in pain.
Through the walls, she heard men’s voices. “Boss, this woman’s too pretty. The guys are getting restless.”
“Cut it out! We’re here for the money, nothing else. The pay’s good – anyone who can’t follow orders can leave now.
Who were these people?
Who ordered the kidnapping?
Who was paying them?
The darkness pressed in around her. She tried calling out for Mia through her gag but heard nothing back.
Then came the metallic smell of blood. It began seeping under the door, dark and viscous, making her gag.
The door creaked open. She instinctively shrank back as two muscular men entered, roughly grabbing her arms
She fought against them. “Let me go! What do you want? Stop!”
A sudden jolt woke her, Mia
A WUS
crying beside her, “Sarah, are you okay?”
“Just a nightmare,” Sarah said, her heart still racing. It had felt so real, vivid in a way dreams usually weren’t.
Mia huddled in the corner, trembling. Sarah reached for her, “It’s okay, Mia I’m right here.”
Mia clutched Sarah’s hand, shaking violently, teeth chattering, eyes wide with fear.
Sarah knew this was dangerous. Mia had barely recovered from her previous kidnapping trauma – this could undo all her
progress.
As she tried calming Mia, she crept to the door and heard voices outside.
“Boss, this woman’s too pretty. The boys are getting restless.”
Her blood ran cold the exact words from her dream!
“Shut up! We’re being paid…”
Even the same response. Sarah’s mind raced
Mia’s trembling grew worse. Sarah made a quick decision and pounded on the door. “Help! Someone help us!”
The door burst open. Several men entered, eyeing them with irritation. “Keep quiet unless you want troubler
“Please‘ She needs medical attention she has severe anxiety disorder. She’s having an episode
“What happens if she doesn’t get help?” the leader asked
“She’ll have a breakdown,” Sarah pleaded, watching Mia rock back and forth
