Clarissa’s string of replies had left Gregory completely speechless, but she didn’t bother wasting any more time on him.
After all those years of leeching off her. Gregory definitely had the money–over a million, even–but he just didn’t want to cough it up. So much for all that sibling love. And she wasn’t about to let him get away with it. She was going to make him spît out every last penny.
Clarissa blocked him without hesitation. Then, she stared at her chat window with Jonathan and let out a long sigh. So d’mn hard to win over
She knew Jonathan’s temperament well. If he was upset, he had to be coaxed immediately, or the situation would only snowball from there.
Huh! So what if he won’t unblock me on WhatsApp? I have ways!
With that, Clarissa pulled out a brand–new SIM card, slipped it into her phone, and dialed Jonathan with a fresh number.
The first call was declined.
Undeterred, she called again. This time, he picked up.
“Hello? Who’s this?” Jonathan’s magnetic voice buzzed through the speaker, low and rich, sending tingles straight to her ears.
Jonny…”
Jonathan’s breath caught.
“You can’t block me forever! If you block this number, I’ll just call with a new one!” Clarissa declared without missing a beat.
Jonathan’s long fingers hovered over the end call button but stopped. He listened to her voice on the other end. After all his years dominating the business world, even he couldn’t help feeling a bit helpless.
“Clarissa, what do you want now?”
“Aww, I didn’t even say who I was, and you already knew. You must really know my voice by now!” She slipped into her usual
act.
He fell silent, at a loss for words.
“Oh, right–did you get my gift, Jonny?”
The moment she brought up the gift, Jonathan’s expression darkened. What gift? The one that mocked me for being in second place? The one you gave just to humiliate me while still clinging to Gregory?
Clueless, Clarissa kept going. “Looks like you did! Jonny, since you’ve already accepted my gift, why won’t you add me back on WhatsApp?” She sounded genuinely aggrieved. “What kind of guy leaves his fiancee stuck on the blocked list? Can you just
“Clarissa.” His voice cut through, cold and final. “I’ve made myself very clear. The engagement is off. You’re no longer my fiancee, and there’s no reason for us to stay in contact. The more you cling, the more pathetic and cheap you make yourself look.”
That one hit too hard. Clarissa couldn’t even pretend to smile anymore. “Jonny… so you’re really going through with it? You’re really ending things with me?”
“Yes,” Jonathan said without hesitation. “I will never marry a woman who eloped with another man.” The memory of her so- called gift–deliberately sent to slap him in the face–only added fuel to the fire. His tone grew sharper. “Keep clinging to me like this, Clarissa, and all you’ll earn is my disgust.”
His words were so cruel that Clarissa bit down hard on her lip. “So, I can’t even be added on WhatsApp?”
Jonathan paused for a beat. “No. From now on, no more contact.”

His straight posture finally slumped. He flipped the phone face down on the table, his expression clouded and heavy.
The woman he’d loved for so many years had eyes only for someone else–and worse, had approached him just to get to that someone else. To him, it was the ultimate humiliation.
Forget it. Let it end like this. There’s no need to drag it out any longer. No more WhatsApp. No more crossing paths. It’s over.
“Sir!”
Zack barged in, face full of anger, followed by a group of senior execs.
“What is it?” Jonathan had already returned to his usual cold, hard demeanor.
“Sir, someone from Mr. Lawson’s team just came over to discuss the partnership deal,” Zack announced through gritted teeth.
But they had one condition! They want Clarissa to lead the project!”
