Selina had barely finished her sentence when the butler came rushing in.

He looked panicked. “Mr. Chandler, madam! We just got word–there was an incident at the construction site Mr. George went to inspect. Some residents showed up with knives! Mr. George-
What happened to George?!”
Frederick and Penelope both shot up in alarm. Selina choked on her words. There had actually been trouble at the site?!
It was a few holdouts. They thought the compensation was too low and tried to get back at Mr. George. They were hiding on- site, and when they saw him arrive, they charged at him with knives
“What about George? Penelope asked, her voice tight with worry,
“Mr. George is fine! Ile brought several bodyguards with him. Those holdouts didn’t even get close before they were subdued. Mr. George wasn’t hurt at all, the butler answered quickly.
Only when she heard George was safe did Penelope finally relax, though she still fel a lingering sense of dread. There really had been rouble at the site…
“Thank goodness for Clare! She was the one who told George to bring extra security Frederick, relieved as well. turned to Clarissa and praised her enthusiastically. Our Clare’s Lady Luck herself‘ Honey, you were just criticizing her a second ago, but look–she ended up saving George!”
Penelope glanced at Clarissa, her expression wavering. She hadn’t expected Clarissa’s warning to be right on the mark. The girl had saved George, however unintentionally. Thinking back to the harsh words she had thrown at her earlier, guilt pricked. at her chest. She had gone too far.
Clare is our little treasure! Frederick beamed. ‘Come on, tell me what you want for dinner tonight–Ill cook it for you!”
Selina’s expression soured. How did Clarissa end up this lucky? That clueless girl actually saved George by sheer dumb luck!
Watching Frederick dote on Clarissa made her grit her teeth in envy
News of George’s near–injury went viral, climbing to the top of the trending searches. Albert and Samuel both reached out with warm concern.
“George, man, you’ve got insane foresight bringing that many bodyguards with you. Good thing you did–otherwise I’d be getting ready for your funeral banquet, Samuel joked in the group call, his voice upbeat and cheerful.
George set his phone down flat on the desk without looking up, still focused on the documents in front of him. “You’ve been too idle lately. Want me to give you something to do at the office?”
Samuel immediately fell silent. He had zero interest in the company–his heart was all in racing.
“George, something about this whole thing doesn’t sit right with me, Albert said in a low voice, having just stepped off set. The set was still crowded, so he kept his voice down, his tone warm and smooth. “I watched the leaked footage. The way those men moved… they didn’t look like ordinary residents
“Right George’s tone chilled. “I’ll get to the bottom of it.”
He had thought the same thing. Those men weren’t just angry locals–something about them was off. There was more to this. And it was thanks to Clare. If she hadn’t told him to bring more bodyguards, he’d probably be in the hospital right now.
“Oh, right–George, did you bring all those guards because you caught wind of something beforehand?” Samuel asked casually
“No, Clare was the one who told me to bring them.”
The moment he mentioned her name, the ice in George’s eyes melted just a little.

“Clare?!” Both Albert and Samuel were stunned. They never would’ve guessed the extra security was Clarissa’s idea. She usually didn’t even acknowledge them as her brothers–when had she gotten so close with George?
“Yeah. George’s lips lifted slightly. Even his cool, restrained voice carried a hint of warmth. “It was Clare. When she came back, she even addressed me endearingly and gave me three gifts.”
“Three gifts?!” Samuel’s voice jumped a few octaves. “She gave you three? Wait–why didn’t I get even one?!”
Albert didn’t say anything, but his suddenly heavier breathing said it all.
