Chapter 6
I motioned for security to stop him.
Ethan’s tears fell instantly, like someone had flipped a switch.
I watched it all coldly. Honestly, it was a shame he hadn’t gone into acting–he would’ve won an Oscar by now.
“Please… stop,” he pleaded. “I admit it. Just don’t say anything else.”
He pleaded with me desperately, “Babe, we were married… can’t you at least let me keep a shred of dignity? I’m begging you.‘
I shut him down immediately.
“Don’t call me that. We’re in the middle of divorce proceedings. Show some respect.”
“If you had the nerve to do all those disgusting things, then have the courage to face the consequences. What, now you can’t even admit to them?”
The reporters‘ excitement surged. This was more than they ever could’ve hoped for.
“Ms. Reynolds,” one called out, “this press conference is being broadcast live. Every word you say will be on the record.”
I didn’t hesitate.
I took out another document and held it up. The screen behind me lit up again.
Another paternity test.
This time, between Julia and
Lily.
I turned to face her and announced, loud and clear:
“Julia, this child
-and Ethan’s. You hid your affair with your brother from me!”
The room went dead silent.
And then, like an explosion
“Did she just say… the child was the result of incest?”
“Her husband didn’t just cheat on her… the other woman is his sister?! This is sick!”
“That’s not even just scandalous–that’s criminal. Who does something like that?”
Cameras clicked frantically, reporters scrambling to capture every frame, every word desperate not to miss this wildfire of a revelation.
Nina’s eyes widened as she slowly turned to look at Julia beside her.
She stood frozen, her body trembling. The strength drained from her arms, and she accidentally let go
of Lily.
The little girl tumbled to the floor, her sudden cries cutting through the chaos.
Camera flashes lit up Ethan’s family, but not a single one of them could find the words to speak.
I stared down at Ethan lying on the floor, my voice as cold as ice.

“Now that everything’s out, what else do you have to say?”
Ethan stumbled forward, nearly falling, his hands trembling as he reached for me–but stopped just short.
“Please… don’t leave me,” he said, voice cracking. “I was wrong. I’ll do anything to make it right.”

He looked like a man unraveling, eyes wide with panic, his breath coming in short, uneven gasps.

“I was wrong! I deserve whatever punishment you want to give me! Just please don’t leave!”
“It was Julia!” he cried suddenly, voice cracking. “She seduced me! She came after me on purpose–just to get ahead at work!”
“I lost control. I gave in just once. I swear it only happened because she pushed it!”
I almost laughed.
How dare he. He actually had the audacity to stand here and act like the victim.
What, Julia forced him into bed? If he hadn’t wanted it, how would she have gotten away with it?
Flies don’t land on a clean wound.
He got what he wanted–and now that it had all come crashing down, he was scrambling to deny it.
Julia’s expression darkened, rage building in her eyes.
From the moment I started dating Ethan, she’d been scheming behind my back.
She insisted on tagging along to our dates, demanded gifts when he bought something for me.
After we got married, she kicked up a fuss until Ethan gave her a job at his company.
At first, I didn’t think much of it. They weren’t blood–related, but they were raised as siblings. I never imagined they’d cross that line.
I honestly never thought they could be this shameless–sneaking around behind my back.
And now their child is
already over a year old…

As he spoke, his hands trembled as he broke down completely, begging for my forgiveness like a man unhinged.
But Julia snapped the moment she heard him dump all the blame on her.
She jabbed a finger at Ethan, her voice sharp with rage.
“Oh, so now you’re the victim? Do you even hear yourself? That’s hilarious.”

“Remember when I was pregnant? You still couldn’t keep your hands off me. Every damn night, you needed it—and you ‘precious wife‘ couldn’t satisfy you. Forgotten all that, have you?”

Her voice cracked with fury as she threw everything out into the open.

Nina shouted, clutching her chest. A second later, she collapsed.
