Chapter 5
“This isn’t a damn pet hospital! Why are we being kept out because of a rabbit?”
The warrior looked visibly uncomfortable but still didn’t move to let us through.
“Sorry, ma’am. Orders from the Alpha.”
“If there’s still time, please transfer the patient to another facility immediately.”
I could hear their voices through the fog in my head.
For the tiny life inside me–a life that had come to me against all odds–I forced myself to stay conscious long enough to call Harvey.
“I did everything you asked me to do.”
“I’m injured now. I’m right outside the werewolf hospital. If you still care about the baby in my belly, let me in!”
A heavy sigh came from the other end of the line. “Lynette, stop being dramatic.”
“Did you really learn nothing from everything that’s happened?”
“You’ve always had fertility issues. We tried for years and never got pregnant. What makes you think this one’s real?”
“Emily’s rabbit is giving birth, and now you say you’re miscarrying? Don’t tell me you’re jealous of a rabbit now.”
“I’ve told you a thousand times–this is just about repaying what we owe Emily!”
“Once we’ve done our part, we’ll come back to you. We’ll help you rebuild the Bloodmoon Pack.”
“You have our word. Nolan and I will stay by your side for the rest of your life.
“But for now, just stop getting in our way!”
The call ended with a click. When I called again, I realized… he’d blocked me.
The next time I opened my eyes, I was lying in a hospital bed, my hand resting on my now–flat stomach.
As a mother, I didn’t need a doctor to tell me my child was gone.
Through my tears, I saw the nursing home director enter, clutching a music box. He bowed slightly and said in a low voice, “Luna… I’m very sorry. Alpha Frank passed away an hour ago.”
The staff said that they didn’t know who had shown him the livestream of today’s press conference.
But when he saw it, he collapsed on the spot. They tried everything. After hours of failed resuscitation, they lost him.
Before he passed, he insisted that this music box be delivered to me personally.
“Luna, Alpha Frank said… he’s too old now. He can’t protect you anymore.”
“But if one day you find yourself wronged, open this music box. Inside is the last thing he left for you.”
Numb with grief, I nodded and quietly thanked him.
Harvey and Liam didn’t even show up for the funeral.
I handled everything alone.
That night, with the world silent and dark, I wiped away my tears as I sat beside Grandpa’s photo. And I opened the secret compartment in the music box.
Inside was a bond–breaking deal–already signed, just waiting for my name to make it official.
A hundred–million–dollar offshore account, belonging solely to me.

And a worn slip of paper bearing a phone number, its digits retraced in heavy black ink.
Grandpa had said that the person on the other end of the line could grant me any wish.
I wiped my tears, steadied my breath, and hit the call button.
The line picked up after a few rings. Then a deep, smooth male voice came through, both familiar and foreign.
“What happened, my little princess? Who made you cry?”
“Whoever hurt you… they’re dead. I’ll bleed them dry myself.”
