Chapter 8
The truth was, their agreement to Emily’s request wasn’t just born of gratitude–it was also driven by their own self–interest.
All these years, Harvey and Liam had lived with the nagging belief that they were just orphans raised by our pack,
Between us, an invisible divide lingered, a barrier they could never cross.
So this time, they saw an opportunity–to “humble” me a little, to soften my edges, and to make sure I would never leave them.
Even Liam, standing rigid with unease, began to sense they’d crossed a line.
“Harvey… haven’t we gone too far this time?”
Harvey paused, but in the end, shook his head. “Maybe. But it’s too late to change anything now.”
“Walter’s gone. And with Lynette’s personality, without us, who’s going to help her keep the Bloodmoon Pack together?”
“Harvey? Nolan? What are you doing just standing there? Aren’t you going to help me?”
Emily wrapped her arms around both their elbows, smiling sweetly as she tried to tug them back toward the burial site.
Harvey instinctively pulled away from her.
“Emily, I told you before–I already have a Luna. I have a wife.”
“Once the funeral is over, only one of the three promises we made to you remains. We hope to settle it as soon as possible, and then we’ll go our separate ways for good.”
Liam didn’t pull away, but his face was rigid, almost forced.
Through the entire burial, he looked distracted, detached.
When the victim’s family finally left, Harvey and Liam faced Emily again.
“All right, only one thing left between us. Tell us what it is, and we’ll do it.”
“But once it’s done, we expect you to walk away and stay out of our lives.”
Emily’s face fell like she’d just been slapped. She stared at the floor, sniffling softly before finally saying something.
“Harvey… Nolan… I know I’ve caused you a lot of trouble lately.”
“You two have been so good to me. Honestly, I’ll miss you.”
“Of course, I know full well your hearts only have room for one person–Luna Lynette. I could never replace her.”
“So… my last wish is this.”
“I just want you to stay with me, like you did with Luna. Just for three months.”
“After that, I swear–I’ll disappear from your lives.”
Harvey and Liam exchanged a look. In the end… they agreed.
Harvey made the arrangements and even picked out a bouquet of fresh flowers to bring home, ready to put everything on hold for three months just to be with Emily.
But when he opened the door to our packhouse… everything that had once belonged to me was gone.
Even my phone number had already been disconnected.
On the table were only two things: An already–executed bond–breaking deal and a medical report confirming my miscarriage.
Harvey immediately called Liam and practically screamed into the phone.

While Harvey was tearing apart the werewolf realm in a frenzy trying to find me…
I had already arrived at Mike’s Lycan castle.
