Chapter 2
I stared at him, stunned.
“I wasn’t stalking you…”
“Enough!” he snapped. “This isn’t the time to argue!”
He grabbed my arm and dragged me toward the healer.
“She’s RH negative. Take as much as you need!”
I yanked back, trying to break free, but his grip only tightened. I had no choice but to sneer.
“I thought you didn’t know me. How do you know I’m RH negative?”
I looked him straight in the eye, waiting–hoping–for some sort of explanation.
Dorian faltered, the confidence draining from his face. Then he barked impatiently, “s this really the time to be arguing about that? You said we were together for six years–of course I’d remember your blood type in an emergency!!”
But I had just lost our child.
My body was still bleeding, still aching.
And even if I were physically fit to donate blood, why the hell should I?
Why should I help clean up the mess left behind by his whore?
“I just had a miscarriage. I can’t donate. Find someone else.”
Dorian’s expression turned hard.
“Corinna, you say you love me, but won’t even donate a little blood? And now you’re making up stories about a miscarriage? God, I can’t believe you’re this heartless. No wonder I can’t remember ever loving you!”
He was right about one thing–if he had ever loved me, he wouldn’t have faked a mental illness.
Wouldn’t have ignored the pallor in my face.
Wouldn’t have asked me to bleed for his mistress.
The nearby monitor beeped erratically.
The healer, not wanting to waste more time, rushed Selina toward the emergency room.
Dorian tried to drag me along behind them. I dug my heels in.
Frustrated, he picked me up and slung me over his shoulder.
“Corinna, whether you want to or not –consider this a favor I owe you. Hell, I’ll mark you on mating ceremony day if that’s what it takes!”
In that moment, I stopped resisting
For the sake of the man who once risked his life for me…
I’d consider this debt repaid.
As I watched my blood flow into the collection bag, something inside me went cold.
Frozen. Numb.
After my donation, Dorian bolted toward the operating room with the nurse, never once glancing back.
I stared after him and whispered, “We’re even now, Dorian.”

I left the blood collection room, but the hallway spun.
Before I could steady myself, the world went dark.
I woke up in a hospital bed again, the healer standing beside me. She looked like she wanted to scold me–but all she did was sigh.
“Take care of yourself. With your condition, you won’t be able to donate again for at least six months.”
I smiled faintly. “Okay.”
As she turned to leave, the young nurse beside her whispered, “Why didn’t you tell her we couldn’t reach her emergency contact? What if she thinks we didn’t try?”
The healer shook her head with a sigh.
“She won’t misunderstand. That girl… she sees everything clearly. It’s just a shame she gave her heart to the wrong man.”
I picked up my phone and saw the list of missed calls–over a dozen.
All from the healer to Dorian.
None of them answered.
Instead, he’d sent me a text.
Dorian: [Corinna, can you stop the drama? Know your place.]
For the first time, I was glad he didn’t answer those calls.
Because I couldn’t imagine what kind of cruel, venomous words he might’ve spat if he had.
I didn’t reply.
I lay in bed the entire day, gathering enough strength just to stand again.
The sun was shining. The sky was clear. I stepped out into the hospital’s rooftop garden to feel the warmth for a moment–and that’s
when I saw them.
Dorian’s friends.
Each of them carried a gift basket or a bouquet. For a second, foolishly, I thought they were here to see me. I instinctively turned, trying to leave unnoticed.
Too late.
They’d already surrounded me, smirking as their eyes raked over my hospital gown.
“Well, well. So Dorian’s here with his mate, and you’re putting on the tragic patient act now?”
“So what if you donated a bit of blood? Do you really have to act so frail and delicate?”
“But honestly- the makeup on your face looks surprisingly natural. Doesn’t look out of place at all. We used to say you were manipulative, but Dorian just wouldn’t believe it…”
Dorian’s Betas had always thought I wasn’t good enough for him.
He made them call me Luna, but only because he insisted.
They never truly accepted me
Now, with Dorian backing their narrative, they finally felt free to show their real thoughts.
Just then, Dorian came rushing up the steps. He paused when he saw me, then frowned.
“Corinna, really?”

“I already agreed to hold the mating ceremony with you, and you’re still pulling this crap? Hiring the healer to fake an illness just so you could spy on me? Are you serious?”
