Chapter 9
Over the next few days, Kai started using every connection he had to pressure me.[]
Maya called me: [Phoenix, Kai came to me asking me to convince you to drop the lawsuit. He says he doesn’t want the divorce…][
[What did you tell him?] I asked directly.[]
[I wished him and Raven a lifetime of misery together and told him to leave the rest of us in peace!]]
[Hahahahaha, you’re the best, Maya.]]
Blake also came to see me, saying Kai was willing to give me 30% of the company shares if I’d just drop the lawsuit.[]
Ilaughed coldly: “Those shares were mine to begin with–now he’s using them as bargaining chips?“[]
A week later, Luna came running to tell me: “Phoenix, my brother’s gastritis flared up and he’s hospitalized. The doctor says it’s serious–they might have to remove his entire stomach.“[]
I continued reading my book with no expression: “Oh.“[]
“Aren’t you going to see him? The doctor says he’s really in danger this time…” Luna said conflictedly.[]
I put down my book and looked at her: “Luna, I did used to care about your brother’s health, but that was before. Now whether he lives or dies has nothing to do with me.“[]
Luna bit her lip: “Could you… could you give me the stomach remedy recipe? I’ll have Mom make it for him.“[]
I pulled out my notebook, tore out those pages and handed them to her: “Take it. Whoever in your family wants to make it can make it–I’m never looking back.“[]
Luna took the recipe: “Phoenix, thank you…“]
“Don’t thank me. This isn’t because I still care about him–I just don’t want to see you caught in the middle.“[]
Three days later, Luna came to see me again, saying Kai had learned I’d given her the recipe and thought I still had feelings for him–he wanted her to pass along a message.]
“My brother says he knows he was wrong and he’s willing to cut all ties with Raven. He’ll only love you for the rest of his life.“[]
Luna’s expression was strange as she relayed this–clearly she couldn’t stand him either.[]
I laughed coldly: “Now he knows regret? Why didn’t he think about the consequences when he chose to betray me?“]
“Luna, tell him this for me.“]]
I stood up and said each word deliberately: “Some people, once you lose them, you lose them forever!“[]
I thought rejecting Kai would finally give me some peace.

Chapter 9
I didn’t expect Raven to contact me directly.]
[Phoenix, could we meet?]]
I checked the time–3 PM: [Sure, the old coffee shop, one hour from now.]]]
I deliberately arrived early at the coffee shop, chose a window seat, and slowly sipped a latte.
Raven arrived late, looking somewhat haggard with red, swollen eyes.[]
She sat down and got straight to the point: “Phoenix, how long are you going to keep tormenting Kai? Look what you’ve done to him–aren’t you satisfied yet?“]]
I calmly stirred my coffee without looking up: “Raven, you’ve got it backwards. He’s the one refusing the divorce, not me tormenting him.“[]
“You know he can’t live without you, yet you deliberately torture him!“[]
Raven’s voice grew shriller, “Can’t you be magnanimous and let us be together? He won’t even talk to me anymore because he’s trying to win you back!“]
I finally looked up with a cold smile: “Let you be together? Raven, you’ve got some nerve. Why should I help out a homewrecker?“]
“I’m not a homewrecker!” Raven jumped up angrily, “Kai and I are childhood sweethearts–you’re the one who came later!“[]
“You want to argue about who came first?“]]
I pulled our marriage certificate from my purse and slammed it on the table, “Raven, take a good look–this is a marriage certificate. I’m his legal wife.“[]
“And you…” I deliberately looked her up and down with disdain.
“To put it mildly, you’re the other woman.“[]
“To put it harshly, you’re a side chick.“[]
“To put it bluntly, you’re just a thirsty SLUT!“]]
