said, “Let’s stop by your office first.”
He looked puzzled, but I didn’t explain further, only saying I had forgotten something important at the office.
Before becoming Leon’s mate and Luna of Ironwood Pack, I had worked in the legal department of his company, so although he was confused, he complied.
As soon as we got on the road, Leon’s phone rang. The caller ID showed Ennuna.
When he answered, Noah’s heart–wrenching wails filled the car.
“Leon, can you come help me? Noah won’t go to kindergarten–be insists that daddy has to take him.” Emma’s voice was tearful, sounding somewhat desperate.
Leon checked his watch and quickly reassured her. “Don’t cry. Give me ten minutes–I’ll be right there.”
To make it convenient to take care of Emma and her son, Leon had settled them in a high–end residential complex less than ten minutes‘ drive from our house.
Seeing him change direction toward Emma’s place, I suggested he drop me off at the plaza ahead. “I need to meet a friend there later.”
Just then, the lawyer friend I had hired to handle the mate bond dissolution had texted me that he was back from his business trip and wanted to meet.
But Leon misunderstood, thinking I was being petty. “Didn’t you hear how upset Noah was? I’m just going to comfort the child. Why can’t you trust me for once? After we get Noals to kindergarten, we’ll go get the baby.”
Outside the apartment building, Noah was rolling on the ground having a tantrum while Emma stood beside him looking helpless.
When she saw Leon get out of the car, she rushed over like he was her savior, intimately linking her arm through his. “Leon, you’re finally here! Noah has been crying for daddy!”
I got out of Leon’s car, planning to wait across the street for the Uber I had just called.
Only then did Emma notice me, her smile freezing on her face. “Julia, I’m sorry! Noah was being so difficult, called Leon in desperation!”
She forcefully pulled Noah away from Leon’s leg, slapping him several times. “How many times have I told you–Leon isn’t your daddy! You can’t call Uncle Leon daddy anymore, or Aunt Julia will get angry!!
Noah walled loudly, his face covered in tears and snot.
In the midst of his crying, he suddenly glared at me with naked hatred in his bright eyes.
I had no interest in this drama and turned to leave, but I’d barely taken two steps when Noah rammed into my lower back.
Somehow he’d gotten behind me with a compass in hand, and seeing me turn around, he threw it at my face. I instinctively blocked it, and the compass pierced my palm with sharp pain.
Sering that he had missed his target, Noah lunged at me again, but I pushed him away:
“Stop!” Leon roared.
Before I could react, he had roughly shoved me to the ground.”
Emma picked up Noah, looking at me with tears in her eyes. “I know you resent Leon and me being closel But the child is innocent- you have grievances, take them out on me, not the child!”
Leon looked down at ine with disappointment Illing his eyes. “I thought you had come to your senses, but it turns out all that was just your way of playing hard to get.”
I didn’t bother to defend myself. I stood up despite the pain and turned to leave, but he grabbed my wrist.

“Julia, I can give you one more chance. Apologize to Emma and Noah, or I’ll reconsider our mate bond.” He made his threat solemnly, expecting me to panic.
Instead, I laughed. “If you’re talking about breaking the mate bond, then perfect–we’re on the same page.”
He hadn’t expected me to mention breaking the mate bond so casually.
After a brief moment of shock, he rubbed his temples, looking exhausted. “Julia, don’t push me. Think carefully if we break the mate bond, I’ll fight for custody of the baby with everything I have!”
In that moment, I was utterly disgusted by his stupidity. “Then I wish you success. Also, that package I sent to your office–you never opened it, did you? If you had bothered to look inside even once, you wouldn’t be saying such idiotic things ”
Leaving the family of three behind, I got into the Uber without looking back
