Chapter 6
The receptionist looked shocked, studying me several times but ultimately said nothing
Mia noticed and whispered to me, “She probably thinks that slut Emma is the Luna. You don’t know how stupid Enimais. Last time I gave Alpha Leon some stamped documents, he asked her to scan two copies, and she actually put them in the paper shredder instead of the scanner! How does someone like that have the nerve to be the Alpha CEO’s secretary? But whenever she cries, Alpha Leon goes soft, Since she arrived, most of us old employees have quit!”
Mia was indignant, clearly harboring resentment toward both Emma and Leon. “But what’s wrong with Alpha Leon anyway? He likes you so much–why does he keep that slut around?”
I stopped in my tracks.
Leon… likes me?
It seemed like a long time ago, we really were an enviable couple.
Our first meeting was in a courtroom where I was the plaintiff’s attorney and he was a friend of the defendant.
I won that case brilliantly, and as I was leaving the courthouse, he called out to invite me to dinner.
Looking at his straight nose and slightly upturned lips, I felt my heart flutter–instinct told me he was the mate the Moon Goddess had arranged for me. During dinner, he invited me to join Ironwood Pack’s legal department.
Actually, the job didn’t appeal to me much, but under his gentle, affectionate gaze, I found myself nodding
Hearts change easily, yet people say hearts are fickle!
It only took three years to go from treasuring me like a jewel to treating me with disdain.
Remembering this, I said flatly to Mia, “Whether he likes me or not doesn’t matter anymore. Leon and I are breaking our mate bond
Mia covered her mouth, staring
ein shock.
Just then, the elevator doors opened and Callum walked out, handing me my phone.
I realized I had left it in the car earlier.
Seeing Callum, the previously articulate Mia suddenly became tongue–tied. “Attorney Dorlan?! What… what brings you to our
company?”
I introduced them, “He’s my friend, here to help me handle something.”
“What friend? I’ve never seen him before,” a low voice spoke beside us.
Leon emerged from his office, still holding a rosewood box.
Emma was there too, her head down, eyes somewhat red and swollen.
s isn’t
Noticing my gaze on her, she looked frightened but determinedly stepped forward, positioning herself in front of Leon. “Julia, this isn’t Leon’s fault. Blame me if you want…
Leon coldly moved her aside, staring at Callum with intense hostility. “Who exactly are you to Julia?
He was practically grinding his teeth.
Emma’s lips parted slightly, looking at him in surprise.
I pulled out the mate bond dissolution papers and held them in front of him. “Look this over first. If you have no objections, please sign as soon as possible.”
Leon took the papers and tore them to sleds without even looking. “Who said I’m breaking our mate bond? Or are you doing this for

this man?”
He pointed at Callum.
I frowned. “Leon, stop deceiving yourself. You know perfectly well why we’ve come to this point.”
Leon sneered. “Isn’t it just because I didn’t get you to the hospital in time? Yes, we lost the child, and I was at fault, but it wasn’t intentional! That day you only said you were bleeding how the hell was I supposed to know bleeding could be life–threatening?”
His emotions gradually escalated, his chest rising and falling with his breathing
Emma stepped forward, gently stroking his chest to comfort him. “Leon, don’t get upset. Julia is just confused with grief. She found another man, but she still cares about you deep down.”
Then she turned to me. “Julia, I’m a woman too. I’ve been pregnant and given birth. Let me say something fair. Losing the child can’t be entirely blamed on Leon. Even if Leon had rushed you to the hospital that day, the child might not have been saved. Everyone has their fate–maybe that child was destined to have a short life.”
I was so angry my liver hurt, the sweet taste of blood rising in my throat. I slapped Emma hard across the face. “What fate my child had is none of your business. ”
