Katelyn stayed watchful, keeping an eye on her to prevent any disturbance upstairs.
Upstairs, Winnie cried herself out and curled up on the sofa.

Seeing her asleep, Bianca carried her back to bed and tucked her in.

She lost track of time sitting there until Blair’s soft call came from outside. “Bianca, come out for a moment.”
Bianca thought she imagined it, but Blair called again.
Recognizing his voice, Bianca rose and stepped out.
Fearing she’d wake Winnie, Bianca led Blair to their old room after leaving.
The lights revealed an array of skincare and makeup products on the vanity.
Even the bedsheets were pale blue, the whole room faintly scented.
Blair seemed anxious. “I want to take Winnie to the hospital.”

It was very late; a hospital trip now meant returning at dawn.
Bianca didn’t understand his purpose but refused flatly. “It’s too late tonight. Whatever it is, wait till tomorrow.”
Blair insisted, “Diane misses Winnie. She wants to see her.”
Bianca felt inexplicable anger flare. “Winnie just fell asleep. It’s eleven already.”
Seeing her strong reaction, Blair tried reasoning. “I know, but I’ll bring her back quickly.”
This only fueled Bianca’s fury. “Blair, is Diane Huffman that important?
Important enough to risk Winnie’s health?“!
Blair paused before explaining, “Diane got hit that day. The doctor diagnosed a concussion. She’s hospitalized now, suffering insomnia. She says seeing Winnie will help her sleep, so I thought-”
Bianca laughed coldly at his words. “A concussion won’t kill her. If she truly misses Winnie, she can come see her herself.”
When Bianca refused to budge, Blair turned to leave without another word.
Bianca guessed he meant to wake Winnie and grabbed his arm. “Blair, I won’t let you take her tonight. If you try, I’ll-”
Already pressed for time, Blair’s anger erupted at her threat.
He spun around, instinctively shoving her hand away. “Get out of my way.”

As he spoke, Bianca was shoved out by him.
She lost her balance, fell to the floor, and hit her forehead against the ground.
At that moment, her head was spinning.
Seeing this, Blair stared at his own hand in disbelief.
He’d acted in haste but hadn’t realized how much force he’d used.
The fact that Bianca was shoved so far proved he’d exerted tremendous strength.
Watching her fall, he froze briefly before crouching to help her up. “Are you okay?” he asked.
Bianca got up with his support, still seeing stars.
Blair’s face appeared distorted and wavering before her eyes.
When she stayed silent, Blair assumed she was angry. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to,” he murmured softly.
His voice sounded muffled and distant to Bianca.
Only after several moments did she gradually regain her composure.
Blair’s features slowly came into focus.
Seeing his hands still supporting her, Bianca pushed him away. Coldly, she stated, “Blair, if you keep this up, you’ll hurt Winnie.”
Bianca rose from the floor, having lost all will and patience to argue with him.

After speaking, she walked past him toward the bedroom door.
Blair watched her leave without calling out or speaking.
Alone in the bedroom, he lit a cigarette. After a moment’s thought, he stepped into the hallway to smoke.
By then, Bianca had already vanished from the downstairs area.
Finishing his cigarette, Blair headed to Winnie’s room.
He sat watching her sleep for a long while before finally gently shaking her shoulder.
