chapter271
Elvin gave her fever medicine, and she fell asleep.
That night, Elvin didn’t sleep a wink.
He stayed by the sickbed, constantly wiping Bianca’s sweat, tucking her in, and uncovering her.
Until dawn, when the sky was lightening, Elvin held Bianca’s hand and fell asleep with his head on the bed.
He rested against the bed, uncomfortable due to his height.
But he was exhausted and sleepy, so he dozed off quickly.
Half–asleep, Bianca felt someone gripping her hand tightly, like trying to crush it.
When the pain woke her, she saw Elvin clutching her hand as if afraid she’d run away.
Bianca moved her hand. Elvin didn’t wake but turned his face closer, so near she’d touch him by lowering her head slightly.
She studied Elvin’s face: straight nose, sharp features, thick lashes, perfect brows.
Such looks must’ve charmed countless girls.
Yet here was Elvin, known for his playboy ways, guarding and caring for her at her sickbed.

How could Bianca not wonder?
A man like Elvin lacked nothing except women.
But his actions were undeniably real.
Bianca wasn’t heartless. Even if Elvin faked kindness or had ulterior motives.
What he did for her was truly rare.
He could proudly hold his head high, yet bent to put on her shoes. He could sleep holding prettier women, yet embraced her sweaty self…
Thinking this, how could Bianca stay unmoved?
She watched Elvin’s face, heart churning with complex emotions.
Then the phone on the nightstand lit up.
Bianca stopped overthinking about Elvin. She checked the phone–a message from Blair.
Blair said: “Come care for Winnie at the hospital today. I’ve got a company meeting.”
Bianca gripped the phone for ages without replying.
Winnie was sick, true–but why would she need her mother?
Bianca didn’t reply or plan to care for Winnie.
She muted the phone and tossed it back on the nightstand.
Elvin slept soundly. Bianca couldn’t bear to wake him, letting him keep holding her hand.

At eight AM, the hospital door opened. Lynette walked in.
Hearing the noise, Elvin opened his bloodshot eyes.
Lynette saw she’d disturbed Elvin’s sleep and apologized sheepishly: “Sorry for dropping by without checking with Bianca first. Didn’t mean to wake you.”
Elvin stood up, not a trace of annoyance on his face. He smiled at Lynette. “You’re too kind, ma’am.
Carrying the insulated food container, Lynette placed it on the bedside table before turning to Elvin. “You had a long night.”
Elvin chuckled. “Nonsense, ma’am. Taking care of Bianca is only natural. Besides,” he added earnestly, “you’re giving me this chance. I’d be a fool not to take it.”
Lynette glanced between Elvin and Bianca.
As an outsider, she saw their dynamic clearly.
Elvin’s eyes held nothing but Bianca, though Bianca’s gaze seemed less certain.
Noticing Elvin’s gaze lingering on Bianca like sticky taffy, Lynette spoke up. “I’ve got a shoot today. Would you mind watching my sister again, Elvin? I’ll relieve you later.”
Elvin’s grin nearly split his face.
To him, this wasn’t trouble–it was a blessing.
He’d do anything to stay near Bianca.
“Feel free to focus on your work, ma’am,” Elvin offered warmly. “I can

stay with Bianca these next few days.”
Lynette understood his meaning instantly. She gave a faint,
noncommittal smile before shifting topics. “Elvin, her brother and I just want what’s best for her.”
Elvin met her gaze squarely. “Don’t worry, ma’am. I’ll treat Bianca right.”

Lynette stayed silent, her eyes drifting to Bianca.
The girl lay quietly in bed, her expression unreadable.
Lynette approached, gently touching Bianca’s forehead. Satisfied there was no fever, she murmured, “How about I stay with you tonight?”
