chapter282
Pulling a stool from under the bed, Elvin sat before Bianca and reached for her feet.
Flustered, Bianca instinctively resisted. “Elvin, don’t. I’ll wash them.”
Elvin gently lifted her feet into the water without hesitation.
His hands began massaging them.
The technique was clumsy, unskilled, yet Bianca’s eyes reddened.
If Elvin’s motives were purely self–serving, why would he go this far?
Bianca Watts wondered if he truly had feelings for her?
She tried pulling her foot back several times, even suggested washing it herself, but Elvin held her ankle firmly and insisted, “I’m your lover. This is what I should do for you–just enjoy it.”
His words left Bianca even quieter.
She looked down at Elvin kneeling by her feet, clumsily massaging her
soles.
Were it not for his uniquely handsome face, Bianca might have suspected an imposter posing as Elvin.
After the foot bath, Elvin helped Bianca into bed.
Returning from emptying the basin, he bent to tuck her blankets in.

Then he murmured, “Baby, I need to step out for a bit. Is that alright?”
Bianca lay bundled up tight, only her head visible above the covers.
Watching him, she thought: He genuinely believes himself to be my lover.
But how could she ever deserve him as her lover?
She swallowed these thoughts, telling Elvin instead, “You’re free. Go wherever you wish–no need to tell me.”
Hearing her attempt to renege on her promise, Elvin quickly countered, “No. My freedom exists only within what you’ve promised.”
Bianca didn’t bother correcting Elvin: She just told him, “Go ahead then.”
Before leaving, while Bianca wasn’t looking, Elvin kissed her forehead and said, “You sleep first. I’ll be right back.”
With that, he left the ward.
But after Elvin left, Bianca couldn’t sleep at all. She grew more awake instead.
Her mind kept replaying Elvin’s kindness these past two days and everything he’d said.
She’d always thought Elvin had ulterior motives. Yet even now, she couldn’t figure out what value she held.
But he willingly lowered himself to wash her feet.
Though a small gesture, coming from Elvin, it felt different.

Bianca’s heart slowly softened.
What if Elvin truly meant well?
Thinking about this, she grew even more restless.
The room felt suffocating, so she decided to get some fresh air.
Walking aimlessly, she reached the corridor’s end.
At the end was a door to the stairwell.
Bianca stepped through and stood by the half–open window, letting cold air hit her face.
Stars dotted the sky, a beautiful night.
Below lay the hospital garden.
Bianca had sharp eyes, and the floor wasn’t high. When she glanced down, she immediately spotted Elvin and Diane.
When Elvin got Diane’s message, he almost ignored it. But
remembering something, he replied, “Fine. Give me the address. I’ll
come.”
Diane sent the location: the hospital garden.
When Elvin arrived, he instantly saw Diane shivering on a bench, arms wrapped around herself.
Hearing footsteps, Diane turned. Seeing Elvin, she smiled softly. “Elvin, you came.”
Early winter, yet Diane wore only a long–sleeved dress, no coat.

Elvin showed no sympathy. Instead, he sneered, “What?
“Done keeping Blair company?”
Elvin genuinely wanted to ask this.
But to Diane, it sounded like Elvin was green with envy over Blair because of her.
Diane didn’t mind. Shivering, she gazed at Elvin coquettishly. “I’m cold. Could you lend me your coat?”
Elvin frowned briefly, then relaxed. “Of course.
He took off his coat and tossed it onto Diane’s lap.
Though rough, Diane felt it proved he cared.
If he didn’t, he wouldn’t have given her his coat.
Once wearing Elvin’s coat, Diane stopped shivering instantly.
