Her attitude turned cold again, just like at the start.
Elvin didn’t reply, but his gaze stayed fixed on Bianca.
He stubbornly stared at the back of her head, as if trying to see through
her.
But he still couldn’t figure her out.
He wondered, was she upset about Blair again?
Just as he thought this, Bianca suddenly turned back.
The small lamp in the ward cast dim light, making Bianca’s expression vague in the shadows.
She looked at Elvin, hesitated, then said, “You smell like perfume.”
There was no actual scent. She brought it up to see if he’d mention meeting Diane.
Hearing her speak to him, Elvin panicked. He lifted his collar and sniffed, then looked at Bianca with a roguish grin, “It’s your scent.”
Hearing this, Bianca pressed her lips into a faint smile. She said calmly, “Elvin, sleep now. I’m tired.”
With that, she turned her back again.
Elvin thought she’d make a little space for him. Even a tiny gap, he could squeeze in.

But Bianca didn’t. She left no room at all.
Worried she wouldn’t sleep well, Elvin didn’t push.
He sat on the chair, leaned over the bed, and texted Davis, “Come to the hospital tomorrow. Keep your sister–in–law company.”
Elvin figured Bianca felt down. More company might cheer her up.
Bianca lay on her side, but sleep wouldn’t come.
Before, she always thought Elvin wanted something from her, but never knew what.
Tonight, she might’ve understood
What Elvin wanted was probably Diane.
Since Diane liked Blair, he started with her.
The next dawn, Blair’s phone buzzed with a message from Katelyn.
Katelyn said, “Blair, breakfast is ready. I’m leaving Harmony Residence now. If Winnie’s still asleep, come get it.”
Blair replied, “Okay.”
Late last night, Winnie had been moved to a regular ward.
About half an hour later, Katelyn arrived outside the ward. Winnie hadn’t woken, so Blair got up and walked out.
When Katelyn handed him the meal box, he didn’t take it.
After a pause, he suddenly said, “Katelyn, call Winnie’s mom.”
Katelyn was stunned, “Huh?”
Blair had dwelled on Lynette’s words all night. He felt guilty.

“Just give her a call and ask how she’s doing, like if she’s feeling any better.”
Katelyn understood Blair’s implication and earnestly advised, “Sir, if you truly care about Madam, you should make that call yourself.”
Blair turned away, his voice low and heavy. “I don’t care about her. But she is Winnie’s mother after all, I just don’t want anything bad to happen to her.”
Katelyn sighed. “Young master, Madam is a wonderful person. Don’t let her slip away. You said it yourself–she’s Winnie’s mother. Only a biological mother truly cares for her child. You’ll regret it otherwise, and little miss will too.”
Blair fell silent, remembering their signed divorce agreement and the fact that they’d receive their Divorce Certificate in about twenty days. Finally, he told Katelyn, “There are no feelings between us.”
Katelyn quickly responded, “But you have little miss.”
Blair went quiet again.
After a moment, he took the insulated food container from Katelyn. “I’ll go feed Winnie.”
Entering the hospital room, Winnie rolled over and rubbed her eyes.
When she opened them, she saw Blair approaching with the food container and called out, “Daddy.”

Blair sat by her bed, smiling. “Katelyn made something delicious. Let Daddy help you freshen up, then we’ll eat, hmm?”
Winnie nodded, her hair tousled like a bird’s nest. “Okay.”
Blair fetched warm water from the bathroom. Using a damp wipe, he gently cleaned Winnie’s face and hands, then reminded her to brush her teeth.
