Chapter 19
Madam Whitney glanced at Tessa disapprovingly.
“You, I’m not like Evelyn, insisting on being my daughter–in–law. She is your daughter and also my daughter. I just want her to be happy in the future.”
“If Marques can’t let go and insists on guarding him for the rest of his life, it’s his own choice, and I won’t interfere.”
Tessa felt a warm rush in her heart and patted Madam Whitney’s hand.
Evelyn has been studying psychology for a long time. Suddenly, she felt a little confused. She could even help others resolve their psychological issues, but she could never solve her own.
Evelyn was well aware that Josie’s situation had been a constant source of concern for her from beginning to end.
Now she and Tessa have closed their accounts. If she were to bring up the past again when she returns to her home country, it would definitely be discovered by Theodore. It took her a lot of effort to leave with Tessa.
Evelyn had considered going it alone. But the thought of leaving Tessa all alone in the world if something happened to her was unbearable.
The more Evelyn thought, the heavier her mood became. Glass after glass went down, and another bottle of wine in front of her was emptied. She poured another glass, only to have it effortlessly taken away by the sudden appearance of Marques.
When Evelyn saw him, her first reaction was guilt, followed by a slightly

“Is it wrong to occasionally have a few drinks?”

“Yes,” Marques sat next to Evelyn, finishing the drink in his cup, “I didn’t plan on bothering you today either.”
“Just feeling bored alone, I’ll keep you company.”
Evelyn glanced at him unexpectedly, “Why didn’t you say today.”
Marques lowered his eyelashes slightly, making it difficult for people to see the emotions in his eyes.
“Having been together for so long, I naturally understand you as well.”
“If it weren’t for encountering something unsolvable, you wouldn’t use this to dispel your worries.”
“Evelyn, how long do you plan to keep it bottled up inside?”
Evelyn put her head on her knees, and her nose suddenly felt sour.
“I just occasionally dream about Josie.”
“I dreamed of her appearance when she committed suicide, dreamed of her questioning me, asking why I didn’t bring the damn person to justice.”
“But I didn’t dare.”
“This was the peaceful life that Emma and I had worked so hard to achieve, I…”
“I’ll accompany you,” Marques grabbed Evelyn’s hand, his gaze becoming more determined. “Since you have this idea, then go for it. I believe Madam Finchum will also support you.”

“Not to mention me, whether it’s going through fire or water, I will always be by your side.”
Theodore searched for Evelyn like crazy for three years.
In the past three years, he didn’t want to manage the company anymore. He didn’t want to go back home either. He basically traveled to various
countries.
Every night he fell asleep with the help of sleeping pills, fantasizing that he would receive a message from Evelyn the next day. After searching for a whole day the next day, he fell into despair once again.
Back and forth it went. Theodore’s mental state deteriorated significantly.

When he was suddenly awakened by the night wind, he found himself standing on the edge of the balcony, with a dozen floors below him. He almost, inexplicably, jumped down.
The days without Evelyn were very painful. But Theodore did not intend to give up like that. Only by living, could he hope to see Evelyn again.
He relied on his last bit of connections to inquire about a powerful psychotherapist. It took some effort to find him and then waited in line for a whole day.
Watching the sunset, Theodore couldn’t help but chuckle at himself. He felt that wasting time on his own affairs was simply a foolish act.
It was clearly Theodore’s turn next. Theodore stood up and prepared to leave. He had only taken a few steps when he heard a familiar female voice.
“Hey, where were the patients who were here just now?”

The surrounding noisy sounds seemed to quiet down in this moment. Only the echo of her voice mixed with thunder grew clearer in Theodore’s
ears.
His breathing became increasingly rapid, and his palms started to sweat. Theodore slowly turned around.
Although the woman only showed her profile, he recognized her at a glance as the person he had been yearning for day and night.
