What a coward.
I smirked, but secretly, I was glad he ran off as soon as he untied me.
Watching Chloe lie motionless on the ground, my heart softened for a moment, but I still grabbed my phone and called an ambulance for her.
The paramedics arrived quickly, carefully lifted Chloe onto the stretcher, and swiftly departed.
As they left, I noticed the old rag doll on the floor. My gaze lingered for a moment, then I bent down and picked it up.
This time, Chloe would never escape my grasp.
When I arrived at the hospital, I found Chloe screaming at the doctors and nurses.
“Who touched me! Why am I in a hospital?!”
Her hair was disheveled, falling wildly around her chest, making her look like an
out-of-control lunatic.
“Where’s my doll! Who took my doll?!”
The doctor’s face was calm; clearly, he’d seen many similar patients.
He gently tried to soothe her, while giving a nurse a look, signaling her to quickly prepare
a sedative shot.
“Ms. Peterson, aren’t your family members here?”
“Would you like us to notify them to come and look after you?”
Before Chloe could answer, I spoke up.
“I’m her sister-in-law. I’m so sorry, she’s caused you so much trouble.”
I jogged in with the doll, even bowing politely.
“Get lost! Bitch! Don’t act like you care! You want to kill me! I know it was you!”
Seeing me, Chloe instantly exploded.
She jumped off the bed, flailing her arms, and lunged at me.
I didn’t dodge. Instead, I deliberately pinched the doll’s leg.
The next second, she slammed onto the floor in front of everyone, unable to get up.
“You poisonous woman! What did you do to me!”
She struggled to push herself up, but her legs felt like they’d been zapped, completely without strength.
When I stared at her with a sweet smile, she looked like she’d seen a demon. She grabbed the doctor’s leg. “Her! It’s her! She’s tormenting me with that doll! Please, arrest her! Take her away!”
“Please, help me cut the connection to her! She’s not human!”
Unfortunately, her words were too outlandish.
No one believed her.
Instead, everyone looked at me with sympathy, as if I were the one who had suffered
torment.
I lowered my head, forcing a bitter smile, my eyes still red. “Honestly, I’m not her biological sister, just her brother’s wife.”
“But lately, this child has been acting strangely, always saying someone wants to harm her, turning our home upside down… We really had no choice but to bring her to the
hospital…”
As I spoke, I wiped away tears, my gaze falling on Chloe, who had already been sedated and was sleeping. My tone was filled with helplessness.
“She used to be such a sweet girl, sigh…”
The doctor and nurses listened, then comforted me. “How could there be such a weird,
evil thing in this world? She must be under too much stress and having hallucinations.”
I nodded, my fingers unconsciously tightening, squeezing the doll’s limbs.
Looking at Chloe’s pale face on the bed, I smirked inwardly.
Yes, who would believe such a thing?
She must have gone mad, imagining it all herself.
“Alright then, let’s put her in restraints so she doesn’t hurt herself or others when she wakes up.”
The doctor finally made the decision, and the nurse immediately began to securely tie
Chloe to the bed.
I thanked them profusely, and once they left, I dropped the act.
I sat by the bed, holding the doll, and one by one, I poked its arms, legs, and fingers with
a needle.
