Chapter 16
When Damien got the call, his face went grim. He rushed to the hospital with his assistant. His footsteps were heavy and urgent as he strode down the corridor, his mind racing, replaying all of Seraphina’s recent, bizarre behavior–her eyes, her attitude, her cold
indifference to both him and Isabelle.
Two hospital rooms stood side by side. Damien stood between them, momentarily paralyzed, unsure which door to open first.
As he hesitated, a nurse approached him holding a file folder.
“Mr. Blackwood, this fell from Miss Croft’s belongings. Could you please confirm it?”
Damien took the folder and casually opened it. His pupils immediately shrank.
Inside were surveillance photos and transaction records, clearly showing a woman identical to Seraphina leaving the estate the night before the wedding. Even more shocking was the record of a secret deal three years prior between the Vance family and Seraphina,” noted as “compensation for substitution.”
“A fake…?” His voice was hoarse. His fingers tightened, crumpling the folder in his hand.
In that instant, everything clicked into place.
She wasn’t Seraphina at all.

Damien’s head snapped up, his eyes blazing with fury. He turned, ready to storm into the imposter’s room and demand the truth.
But as he took a step, he saw Isabelle standing at the end of the hall, her face pale

Damien ignored her. He pushed open the door to the “Seraphina’s” room, only to find it empty.
A nurse informed him that the Vance family had picked up “Mrs. Blackwood” a short while ago.

“The Vances?” Damien’s eyes darkened. He barked an order at his assistant. “Verify the authenticity of these documents. And get the car ready. I’m going to the Vance estate.”
Isabelle rushed to block his path, her voice urgent. “Damien
she ran away! That proves she’s guilty! She was impersonating Seraph-
ina, probably for the Blackwood fortune. Why are you even chasing after her?”
Damien stopped and turned to look at her. “I just want to know where the real Seraphina is.”
Isabelle froze, the smile on her face faltering. “Damien, you… have you fallen for her?”
He didn’t answer, just gave her a long, deep look before striding away.
Isabelle stood rooted to the spot, her fingers twisting the fabric of her clothes, a storm of regret and anxiety raging within her. She
had thought that exposing the imposter would secure her place with Damien, but she had never imagined it would lead to this.
Looking at Isabelle, the seeds of doubt in Damien’s mind began to sprout. Her behavior was just as strange.
He took a moment, then sent a text to his assistant:
【Look into Isabelle as well. Find out why she was really investigating all of this.)
