Chapter 11
Preston stared at me in shock, covering his face, never having expected me to actually hit him back.
I stated, “Preston, listen carefully. The overseas division was always my own work, contractually mine! When is it your turn to butt in! Sophie’s measly shares–I could squeeze her out of the market and they’d be mine. Why would I need her to transfer them to me? Ridiculous!”
“What are you saying!”
Samuel frowned. I turned to him. “Shut up! You think you’re still my boss!”
I pointed at all of them. “I’m your competitor now, not your silly daughter! Try this again and don’t blame me for siding with the
Gordons!”
“You little-” Edward clutched his chest, pointing at me with a shaking hand. “Saying things like that–is that what a Sullivan would say! Don’t forget your broke company was originally from us! You think you achieved all that because you’re a Sullivan! Clients gave you face! They were all looking at the Sullivan name! Without us backing you, you’re nothing!”
I frowned.
This narrative was pretty popular in their circles.
Me, some bottom–feeder nobody, suddenly becoming a business rising star–when they couldn’t find fault with me, they attributed all my success to having the Sullivan family backing me.
If I didn’t set this straight, they could hold it over me forever.
“Fine, want to bet? Let’s bet on who can completely control the domestic market this year!”
They froze.
Samuel actually laughed. “Compete with me for the domestic market? Are you insane?”
“Do you dare?” I was direct.
“What are we betting?”
I stared at them. “Each other’s companies. If I lose, I’ll exit overseas and let Sophie take over completely. If I win, Samuel’s position
comes to me too!”
Samuel frowned–not from concern about winning, but from annoyance that this former subordinate, this nobody he despised, dared challenge him.
“If you lose, i don’t just want your overseas market.” Samuel’s face darkened. “I want you to livestream kneeling and apologizing to Sophie!”
I gritted my teeth. “Deal!”
After signing the agreement, I turned and left.
Let’s see if they still think my success comes from them backing me after I win this head–to–head with the Sullivan family!
