A Birthday Curse and Regret 2

A Birthday Curse and Regret 2

Chapter

The sound of my breathing and heartbeat was amplified in the silent

room

Clutching my phone, I waited for Harold’s response, which my life. depended on

It was just a second, yet it felt like an eternity

Finally, his icy voice, filled with disgust and nonchalance, came through. You’re gonna die? Great. Mom and Dad are dead because of you. It’s what you owe them.”

I froze. His every word was like a sharp knife, stabbing my heart fiercely

My tears streamed down my cheeks uncontrollably

I should have known I didn’t deserve a birthday.

But I still clung to that last bit of hope

After all, we were related by blood and all each other had

But his biggest hope was to see me dead

Well, I guessed I didn’t exactly want to live either

My only family hated my guts. What was the point of living anyway

I knew Harold hated me ever since I was little

Mom had a difficult labor when giving birth to me. I wasn’t supposed to

make it

Chapter

But she didn’t want me to die. She struggled with all her might to give birth to me, trading her life for mine

That very night, Dad had a car wreck because he was overwhelmed by grief over her death

From the moment I was born, Harold saw me as a sinner who caused our parentsdeath, and he always looked at me with pure venom

But, like him, I lost my parents, too

The bell rang, indicating it was 11:00 p.m. I snapped back to reality and wiped my tears away

As I gently untied the ribbon on the cake box and lifted the transparent lid, the sweet aroma of cream wafted over right away

I wanted to have a taste of a birthday cake before I died

After all, I had never tasted one, and I’d never have the chance

I took out the numbershaped birthday candles-1and 8, placed them on the cake, and then pulled out a lighter from the drawer

A gust of wind blew through the window. After I tried several times, I still couldn’t light up the candle

So, I stood up and walked to the balcony to close the window

Just then, a brilliant firework lit up the night sky, which was stunningly beautiful

Standing next to the window, I remained motionless, letting the night. wind fill my billowing dress as well as the hollowness in my heart

The fireworks shot upward one after another, leaving silver tails behind them, blew up in the sky, and turned into countless falling stars

Chapter

There were a full sixteen fireworks, indicating Lilian’s age this year

As the night sky darkened again, numerous drones rose slowly and finally spelled out, Happy birthday to my baby sister

The wind was so strong that it stung my eyes. How nice; I felt happy for Lilian because she had a brother who loved her so much

As the wind filled my ears, I took a step forward

No one ever loved me in my whole life

In my next lifeForget it. I didn’t want a next life

I took another step forward, leaned over the railing, and then leaned further without hesitation till my feet left the floor

Goodbye, Harold
