Chapter 14
Julia’s POV
I was sitting in my room, scrolling through the latest updates on the security system with my laptop, I wasn’t surprised or shocked. In my previous life, it happened and I knew it would happen just as it’s happening now. Shortly, my phone rang.
Emily’s voice came through the line, clipped with urgency.
“Scarlett and the shareholders are holding a general meeting right now,” she said. “They’re planning to vote you out as CEO.”
I leaned back in my chair, exhaling slowly as I closed the browser tab on my screen. So, it was finally happening. I had always known Scarlett was scheming behind my back but what surprised me was how quickly she’d decided to throw me out behind my back.
“Are you on your way?” Emily pressed.
A slow smile curved my lips. “Let them play their little game, I’ll be there soon.”
The moment I stepped into Julison Technology Enterprise, the air was filled with tension. Employees shot me nervous glances as I strode past, but I ignored them. If there was one thing I knew how to do, it was to stay composed in the face of opposition. My previous life has thought me that.
Outside the meeting room, Emily was pacing anxiously. The moment she saw me, she halted instantly and then approached.
“You shouldn’t have to deal with this,” she blurted. “They’re all against you. If they succeed in removing you, I swear, I’m resigning too!”
I arched a brow at her. “And here I thought my assistant had a stronger backbone.” I crossed my arms, tilting my head slightly. “You can’t just panic at every little coup attempt, Emily. This isn’t the first, and it won’t be the last.”
Her cheeks flushed, and she pressed her lips together.
“I’m not panicking, I just…”
“Then stand firm.” My tone softened slightly. “You’re my assistant. If I fail, then you can worry. But until then, you hold the line.”
She took a deep breath and gave me a small nod. “Right. You’re right.”
I smirked. “Of course, I am.”
The moment I stepped into the boardroom, their eyes fell on me, I could see the surprise in their faces to be shocked I had come. Scarlett sat at the head of the table, her perfectly fingers resting on a stack of documents. The shareholders were already seated.
“You’re late,” one of them snapped.
I pulled out my chair and sat down slowly, unbothered. “I’m not late. You all were simply too eager to start without me.”
A murmur rippled through the room as they whispered to them which I didn’t care to bother to know what they said.
Scarlett leaned forward, looking focused. “Let’s not waste time. The majority of us have agreed that you are no longer suitable to lead this company. Your recent decisions have been reckless, and your leadership has brought nothing but instability. We believe it’s time for a change.”
I rested my chin on my hand, studying her. “Ah. So you’ve finally convinced them, have you?”
A shareholder scoffed. “There’s nothing to convince.
The numbers speak for themselves. Under your leadership, the company has been…”
“Flourishing?” I interjected smoothly. “Expanding?”
“Declining,” Scarlett corrected, her eyes glinting.
“And we refuse to let you drag us down any further.”
I sighed, shaking my head. “Such a pity,”
“Pity?” Scarlett echoed.
I leaned back in my chair, crossing my legs. “Yes, because if I walk out of this company, the funds I brought in would walk out with me.”
Silence, they all stayed mute. The board members exchanged glances, confusion showing across their faces as though they wondered if I was ok in the head. Obviously I hadn’t brought any funds yet.

“What funds?” one of them asked, his voice skeptical.
I shrugged. “Ah, wouldn’t you like to know?”
Scarlett scoffed. “Enough with the theatrics. You’re bluffing.”
Some nodded in agreement.
“If you had secured any significant funds, we would already know about it.”
I smirked but said nothing. Let them stew in their doubt.
Then, suddenly, there was a beep.
A sharp notification sound broke through, drawing everyone’s attention. It was coming from Emily’s laptop.
She stiffened, scrambling to mute it but everyone’s eyes were already open on her.
Scarlett’s expression darkened. “This is a professional setting. How careless can you be to disrupt this meeting?”
Scarlett chimned in. “Completely unprofessional. Incompetent. Is this the kind of assistant you keep?”
I leaned forward. “No one gets to scold my assistant.”
Silence fell again.
Emily swallowed, then glanced at the screen. “It’s… an email.”
I arched my brow. “From whom?”
She hesitated, then cleared her throat. “Lynwood Company.”
Now, that got their attention.
I turned to Emily. “Read it. Out loud.”
She nodded and clicked on the email. Taking a steady breath, she began:
“To the Board of Directors of Julison Technology Enterprise,
We are pleased to confirm our investment of $900,000,000 into Julison Technology Enterprise under the current leadership of Julia. We believe in the CEO’s vision and strategic direction and fully support their continued leadership. Any changes in leadership may affect our agreement and reconsideration of this investment.
