Chapter 30
Julia’s POV
I could see the surprise in Mr. Samuel’s gaze as it shifted between I and then to Lucas who had just walked in with a smile as he embraced Mr. Samuel into a hug.
“I was really shocked when you received an investment from Lynwood. But I never could have imagined that you knew Lucas. Come on, tell me quickly, how did you two get to know each other?”
Ubarely had a second to react before Lucas opened his mouth, the hint of a smirk tugging at his lips.
“Oh, yeah we met at a club…”
“At the summit,” I cut in swiftly as I shot Lucas a glance who understood I didn’t want him to tell Mr. Samuel exactly how he met me.
Lucas nodded firmly. Yes, she’s right.” But I caught sight of a subtle curve on his mouth.
“At the submit, huh?” He questioned, staring at Lucas and I nodded.
Mr. Samuel smiled and then nodded, “that’s good.” He placed an arm on Lucas’s shoulders as he spoke again. “Good to have you here, my child.”
“Thank you.”
Lucas and Mr. Samuel walked towards the couch and he offered Lucas a seat.
Just as I was about to speak, Mr. Samuel’s stomach let out a loud short groan.
“Oh, what now.” He questioned, his eyes fell on his stomach which groaned again and this time, it was louder.
“Seems you are hungry, how about I make us some food.” I suggested and immediately, Mr. Samuel turned to me. “That will be great, my child. This old man right here needs some food.” He chuckled and then placed his hands on his stomach as he rubbed on it gently.
“Sure.” I stood up, about to leave but Lucas’s words made me halt.
“I’ll join you. At least I could be a helping hand.” I turned to him.
“No, no you don’t have to.” I refused his request but it was too late. He was already walking towards me.
“Do you even know how to cook?” I scoffed. “Do you?”
He shrugged. “I know how to follow instructions.”
His response made everyone chuckle including Mr. Samuel. “Good. Then the two of you can figure it out together.”
With that, I had no choice but to head into the kitchen.
The kitchen was spacious, well–lit and looked as it has always looked when last I was here.. Lucas rolled up his sleeves, casually surveying the ingredients I had laid out.
“You really want to assist me?” I questioned because I didn’t see Lucas as such man. He was a powerful and wealthy man always sounded by servants who does everything for him. So I never thought this side of him ever existed.
“Surprised?” He questioned as he walked towards the sink to wash his hands.
“Alright, what’s the plan, world best chef?” he asked, raising an eyebrow at me.
I huffed with a playful smile. “Don’t call me that.”
He chuckled “Eine.” He placed his hand on my shoulder. “What are we making?”
glanced at the ingredients, some vegetables, meat, and a variety of spices. “Something edible, hopefully.”
Lucas snorted. “I see.” He picked up a knife and inspected it. “Alright, I’ll chop the vegetables. You handle the seasoning and cooking.”
I must say, this side of him was amazing and entertaining. Watching the world’s feared and respected billionaire assist me in the kitchen was another kind of unbelievable feeling.
“You know how to chop the vegetables?” My question made him smile.
“Very well.” He responded. He grabbed the knife and put the vegetables into a bowl and was about to wash them alongside the knife.

“Easy.” I said but before he could respond, he winched.
“Ouch.” He had gotten a slight cut as I quickly rushed to him.
“I said easily.” I held his finger and luckily, it was just a little cut without any blood.
“I’ll do the cooking, just sit over there.” I took the knife from his other arm and placed it carefully as I guided him to take a seat but he was too
stubborn.
“I can manage.” He stood and then grabbed the knife again.
“How about I do the cooking and you assist me?” He turned to me.
“Huh?” No way. There was no way I’d let him make a mess in this kitchen.
“Just seat and watch a handsome chef do some magic.” He winked at me and led me to the chair. He made me sit. “You are still recovering. You shouldn’t stress about it.” He added.
He was right, I needed to recover. I watched him stroll back towards the apron and wrapped it around him. He indeed looked like a handsome chef indeed.
He focused but occasionally, he would turn to me and crack a joke about his cooking that would end up making me laugh. While he cooked, I didn’t see any reason to assist him. He was getting everything right.
After the meal was ready, we set the table, Mr. Samuel was already seated, watching us with amusement. As we placed the dishes down.
“Not bad,” he said. He glanced at the meal and with a smile, he grabbed his spoon.
Lucas pulled out a chair and sat down, giving me a sideways glance with a smile.
I smiled back and then took a seat.
Mr. Samuel took a bite and nodded. “It’s good.” Then, after a pause, he continued and then teased. “You two made a good meal, perhaps cooking as a couple will feel good. You two should fall in love.”
I nearly choked on my food but I didn’t make it look obvious, it was replaced with a smile as my eyes landed on Lucas who was already only laughing. “Oh, Mr. Samuel? You think so?”
Mr. Samuel nodded. “Why not? Love is a beautiful thing you know?.” He took another bite. “While I was your age, I once loved a girl. It was such an amazing moment.”
His words only made me and Lucas smile even more. I cleared my throat and quickly reached for my drink.
Mr. Samuel continued. “If it happens, I wouldn’t be surprised.”
Just then, my phone vibrated. I glanced at the screen to see It was a message from Jake.
When I opened it, a photo appeared on my screen.
