Chapter 4
Garrett’s expression darkened at my words.
The watching netizens finally couldn’t take it anymore and tried to rush at me, but the reporters held them back.
So, they’d only cursed me.
“You crazy bitch, why don’t you just die?”
“Any real man would divorce her. Once this ungrateful woman gets dumped, let’s see who’ll want her then.”
“Pray you never leave this hospital. Watch out for accidents when you do.”
Reporters shoved microphones in my face, competing to ask questions.
“Madam, is it true what’s online–that you decided to divorce because your husband saved your daughter first?”
“Don’t you think you’ll regret giving up this loving husband and sweet daughter?”
“Or do you have some hidden reason you’re forced to do this? Are you terminally ill and don’t want to burden your family?”
I replied calmly:
“That’s correct. It’s because he saved our daughter first.”
“And I’m not terminally ill.”
“After the divorce, I’ll also file new lawsuits against everyone who hurt me.”
My words completely enraged the netizens who had just been restrained.
They angrily spat at me.
“The whole country wants to beat you to death, you freak. Go ahead and sue–think you can sue us all?”
“Come on, remember my face! I’m Dale Morrison, sue me too while you’re at it!”
“You bitch, I’m a major influencer. I’m posting your ugly face online right now.”
I faced their abuse calmly, stepped back a few paces, and closed the hospital room door.
Half a month later, the divorce trial officially began.
Because my divorce filing had caused such a stir, the gallery was packed with people from all walks of life.
With my permission, the entire proceeding was livestreamed.
Garrett looked at me with pain in his eyes.
“Vera, do we really have to make this so ugly?”
“Ten years together–can you really just throw it all away?”

Chapter 4
“Drop the lawsuit and come home with me!”
Hearing this, my emotions were conflicted.
Yes, Garrett and I hadn’t had it easy getting together.
After college graduation, we both interned at the same company.
When our relationship was discovered, for the sake of my career advancement, he willingly went home to become a house husband.
When we got married, my mother was strongly opposed.
“A man with no career ambition–what kind of future can he give you?”
Even after he knelt at our family’s door for three days and nights, my mother still wouldn’t budge.
I still snuck out while no one was home to get the marriage certificate with him.
Because we couldn’t have children, two years ago we adopted Paisley from an orphanage when she was ten years old.
All my friends envied me.
Perfect career, caring husband, well behaved daughter.
It seemed like I’d reached the pinnacle of life.
1 snapped back to reality and sighed.
“Garrett Thorne, I’m trying to save you some face. Leave with nothing, and I’ll let everything else slide.”
My mother in law lost her previous favoritism when she heard this.
She raised her voice and confronted me.
“Vera Sinclair, what gives you the right to make my son leave with nothing?”
“Even if my son doesn’t work, he’s taken care of the house and child these past years, waited on you hand and foot–he even washes your underwear! Don’t you have any conscience?”
“Son, divorce her and split the assets fifty–fifty.”
Garrett frowned and shouted at his mother:
“Mom, stop. I’m not divorcing Vera.”
Then he looked at me with deep affection.
“Vera, do you have some misunderstanding about me? I have nothing to hide. You don’t need to save my face–just say it directly.”
Paisley had started sobbing, looking at me with tear filled eyes.
“Mommy, if it’s because of me, just send me back to the orphanage.”
“The two years of love you gave me is already more than enough.”

Chapter 4
Someone in the gallery couldn’t sit still and angrily stood up.
“So when we men sacrifice our careers to support our women, this is what we get? Left with nothing?”
“I bet this bitch found someone else and is just looking for an excuse.”
“If the court rules the man gets nothing, will any of us dare to get married anymore?”
Comments flew across the livestream screen.
“Sweetie, don’t beg her. She doesn’t deserve to be your mom. Come find me, I’ll adopt you.”
“The poor kid looks so pitiful. Obviously not her real mom–no maternal instincts.”
I sighed.
“Garrett Thorne, since you don’t need me to save your face…”
“Harrison, give the judge the materials you have. I believe after reviewing them, the judge will give me a fair and just ruling.”
Everyone’s curious gaze followed the file folder in my lawyer, Harrison’s hands.
Garrett hadn’t expected I actually had evidence.
A flash of panic crossed his previously confident eyes.
