Chapter 9
I stared at Aliana’s messages.
She wouldn’t say that for no reason. So, what happened to my dad wasn’t just an accident?
Back then, my dad was in charge of the Foster Group, and my uncle could only step aside though he didn’t want to.
After all, he wasn’t as capable as my dad, and the shareholders of the Foster Group didn’t want him to lead the company.
One day, on the way to a meeting, my dad was hit by a truck.
I didn’t believe for a second that it was an accident, but my grandparents both insisted so.
No matter what, we had no proof. My dad later became a vegetable.
Then my uncle took over the company.
He wanted to let Aliana replace me to be Dominik’s wife but was stopped by my grandparents.
I remembered. At the door to the study, I heard my grandpa warn him sternly. “Enough is enough. What you did to Richard was already out of the line.”
Richard Foster was my dad. I was so shocked–was my uncle really behind the whole thing?
Thinking back to what happened around me recently, I somehow felt that
it wasn’t just wild speculation.
My grandparents passed away last year. Shortly after that, Aliana came back and hooked up with Dominik.
My uncle and the others knew about the two’s affairs well, but they pretended otherwise.
Any decent person wouldn’t let their daughters do such a despicable thing.
Aliana acted so brazenly because she was certain I could do nothing to them.
After all, I was an orphan, and my husband despised me. They could kill me easily.
I had planned on divorcing Dominik and leaving for good, but Aliana’s messages changed my mind.
I already had nothing to lose. If my uncle and his family really had something to do with the car wreck, I’d make them pay.
I got out of bed and went downstairs with my phone in my hand. Dominik was sitting on the couch in the living room, and upon seeing me, he immediately stood up and walked over to me.
He reached out to hold my arm. “I had Donna make some soup,” he said.
“Thanks,” I said and sat down with his support, my voice hoarse.
“You must be dying to know how we lost our baby, right?”
He looked very sad. “Elsa, how?”
“You took Aliana to leave, watched as I was cyberbullied, and left me to

endure humiliation and ridicule. Seeing all this, my baby decided to
leave.”
“It’s because of Aliana? Why didn’t you tell me? Why didn’t you tell me you were unwell?” The astonishment in his eyes was unmistakable.
“Why should I? Couldn’t you tell? If only you had cared about the baby a little bit, this would have never happened.”
I sneered, “Both Aliana and I are women. I was pregnant, and I needed to be treated carefully, too. Pregnant women shouldn’t be treated rudely or agitated. This is common sense.
He took my words for it and gripped his hair, blaming himself, “I’m so sorry, Elsa. It’s all my fault!”
He believed I had a miscarriage because the cyberbullying was too much. for me to take.
And then he even tried to hug me, but I pushed him away.
It was indeed his fault. He should pay for it!
I never wanted to forgive him; I made up this lie to verify some speculations.
Due to guilt, he stayed by my side these days while I spent most of the time sleeping every day, pretending he didn’t exist.
Meanwhile, Aliana kept calling him.
Since he didn’t go see her, she began to act desperately.
She cursed me and my family with vicious words.
Remaining calm, I took some measures.

Nowadays, money could solve most problems.
As Dominik’s wife, I could spend his money however I wanted. So, I hired
a private investigator to keep tabs on Aliana.
Then I learned something shocking–she wasn’t pregnant at all.
