Chapter 3
The moment I posted it, my Wolfgram lit up with likes and comments.]
But not a single one came from Cassian’s crew–they’d all made the collective choice to play blind. Though I figured they were probably calling him up to celebrate right about now.
It didn’t take long for my phone to start going crazy.]
My parents called. His parents called. Cassian himself wouldn’t stop calling either. I didn’t pick up a single one–just sent my parents a quick text.
“I’m coming home today. I’ll explain everything once I get there.“]
I packed up fast. Just as I was heading out, Cassian’s car pulled into the driveway.[]
He got out and stormed toward me, fury written all over his face.[]
“Lyra, what the hell is your problem? You’re killing our baby over a damn seed donation?“]
“Why didn’t you tell me you were pregnant?“]
His rapid–fire accusations made my stomach turn, but at this point, there was no reason to argue.[]
I ignored his rage, grabbed my luggage, and headed down the steps toward the gate.[]
He yanked me back hard. “What’s the point of this? I already told you–once she gives birth, I’ll cut ties with her completely. I’ve compromised this much for you already. What more do you want from me?“]
His shameless words echoed in my ears, and I couldn’t take it anymore. I slapped him–hard.[]
“Don’t let me ruin your pure, precious connection,” I said. “Rurik was right. You should follow your heart.“[]
“Why would you want someone as petty as me? You should go find yourself a woman who’s more understanding.“]
“The dissolution papers are in your email. Don’t forget to sign.“]
With that, I wrenched free of his grip, opened the gate, and walked out.[]
Behind me came his pathetic roar: “Don’t you dare regret this when you’re gone!“]]
- 1.
Regret it? I should be thanking him for this whole mess–it finally made me see the light. Leaving him would only make my life better.
When I got home, my parents immediately pulled me aside, demanding to know why I wanted a divorce.
My mom’s eyes were red and puffy–clearly she’d been crying.]
I told them both about Cassian’s seed donation scheme.]
Mon held me tight, tears streaming down her face. “I told you from the start that man was no good.”
Dad was quiet for a moment, then said, “Good riddance.”

Chapter 3
My lips trembled, and I finally broke down, sobbing in my mother’s arms.[]
They’d never approved of Cassian anyway–said there was no love in his eyes when he looked at me.[]
But I’d chased him for seven years, finally getting him to agree to date me.]
Back then, I was too stubborn to listen to anyone’s advice. I was convinced I could make Cassian fall in love with me eventually.[]
Clearly, I’d failed. We’d still ended up at divorce.[]
You really can’t force something that isn’t meant to be–I learned that the hard way, after wasting ten years of my youth on it.[]
I waited forever, but Cassian still wouldn’t sign. Finally, after I threatened to take it to court, he reluctantly sent me a message.]]
“I’ll come pick you up tomorrow, and I’ll have Rurik and the others apologize to you. Stop making a scene–I’m exhausted. I’ve got Seraphine on one side and you on the other. Neither choice leads to the best solution.“[]
“I’m apologizing to you, okay? Can’t you cut me some slack? I said I’d keep my distance from her, but she’s pregnant right now and needs someone to look after her. Her mate isn’t even around.“[]
