Kiara was livid, her face flushed red with anger as she clutched her pregnant belly, trying to calm her breathing.
“Oh, I see now. So you despise my relatives? Despise me? Then why didn’t you act like this when you slept with me? Now I’m carrying your child, and you want to shove all the blame on me??
“That’s not what I meant!” Winston snapped, glancing nervously outside. “Stop causing a scene here. Do you even realize where we are? Let’s go back first. I’ll figure something out about the money.”
Kiara trembled with fury, but when she noticed employees peeking through the glass into the office, she reluctantly followed Winston out, her pride clearly wounded”
Meanwhile, I was at the hospital, and my wrist had swollen to an unrecognizable size.
The pain during the realignment nearly made me faint. Cold sweats soaked through my clothes.
Even after the steel plate was set and a brace secured around my wrist, the throbbing refused to go away.
After dropping Kiara off, Winston rushed to the hospital and found me just as Denver was helping me walk out of the building
He humed over, reaching for my hand.E
I instinctively recoiled, panic flashing through me
That flinch made his expression falter. He forced a smile and awkwardly handed me a bag full of herbal supplements.
“Bianca, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt you. I lost control at the moment. What did the doctor say–how bad is it?”||
Denver scowled and slapped Winston’s hand away. “Don’t pretend you care now. If it weren’t for you, Bianca wouldn’t be injured in the first place. You had a wife and a mistress, and still chose to hurt your wife for the mistress. As for these supplements–I’ll get better ones myself. Throw this trash away ”
Winston looked at Denver, clearly imitated
“You’re just an outsider. This is between Bianca and me. I admit I was wrong, but don’t try to drive a wedge between us. What do you like her too?“%
Without hesitation, Denver replied. “Yes, I like her a lot. If you hadn’t come into the picture first, I would’ve been the one marrying Bianca
His words stunned both me and Winston.
Winston’s face darkened, his lips pressed into a hard line. He glared at me with icy intensity.!!
“So that’s it. At first I didn’t want to believe it I couldn’t understand why you were so eager to divorce me, even willing to walk away from the company. Now it makes sense. It’s him, isn’t it?“))
I frowned, my jaw clenched
“Winston, stop twisting things. I divorced you because of You know what you d
He sneered, clearly not buying it.
you.
did. Don’t blame this on Denver.”
“You always talked down about Kiara and her mother, calling them homewreckers–but look at you! Running off to start a company in San Francisco with this man. Don’t act like you’re any different. Who knows how long you’ve been cheating behind my back!”
Smack!
I slapped him across the face, trembling with rage.
“Denver and I are innocent. Just because you’re filthy doesn’t mean everyone else is. I’ve said what I needed to say. Believe it or not, we’re divorced. You have no right to interrogate me. Now get out of my way.”
Denver stepped in, shoving Winston aside and carefully helped me into the car.
During the ride, he played my favorite songs, quietly focusing on the road. I couldn’t help but think about what he said earlier!
I glanced at him–his side profile was sharp, perfectly sculpted. If only he had pursued me back then, maybe Winston would’ve never been in the picture.
The thought made my ears flush red.
“What?” Denver teased without taking his eyes off the road. “You’ve been staring at me like that–finally realized how handsome I am?”
I quickly turned my head, heart thudding like a drum, my cheeks burning.!!
“Eyes on the mad, okay? I’m injured. I’d rather not break anything else.”
I tried to steer the conversation away, but he clearly wasn’t done.!!
He pulled over to the side of an overpass and turned toward me. His expression was serious, more serious than I’d ever seen it.
Love shimmered in his eyes, raw and unhidden.
“What I said earlier–I meant every word. Believe it or not, that’s up to you. But I’ve only ever loved one person–only you and no one else.” His gaze dropped, a flicker of resignation on his face.
“I know you just ended your marriage. I’m not here to pressure you. If you can’t accept me, I get it. I’ll wait. Just… please don’t shut me out because of what happened today. Can we pretend you didn’t hear it?
I stared at him, taken aback by the vulnerability in this man–this proud, unshakable man who was now laying his heart bare before me.
I felt a twinge in my chest
“How could I pretend I didn’t hear it?” I whispered. “I heard everything–loud and clear”
