In senior year, Harlow got early acceptance.
She published an article in a magazine, “How Al
will change writing.”
The essay got her an acceptance to an elite.
college.
Her essays were terrible. Her grades in English
were bad.

My parents ignored it, praising her again. They treated me like shit.
I confronted her, but she looked smug. “What? I don’t understand you.”
“I wrote that article. I worked so hard. How dare you dismiss it?”
“Prove it was your article.”
She smiled, typing on her phone.
She shoved the phone in my face.
“Don’t dream. I won’t let you record me.”
“Mom and Dad will only love me. You should
have died.”
“What if I stole your article? What can you do?”
く
“I’m the only daughter. If you have any sense,
leave.”
I went to my parents. They told me to be kind.
“Olivia, you’re smart. You’ll get into a good
college.”
“But your sister isn’t good at school. Give her
this chance.”
Charles told me, “Jake also needs to get into college. You should write another essay so he can get early acceptance, too.”
I lost all hope.
At Harlow’s party, I played the security footage
from my room on the big screen.
Harlow and Jake snuck into my room. Jake
stood guard while Harlow opened my computer.

“Which file is it?”
“The one about Al.”
“The essay?”
“Yeah! That one! I heard that bitch say it might
win an award.”
Harlow copied the file to a USB drive. “I got it.”
“Shut off the computer. Don’t leave evidence.”
“Don’t worry.”
Jake said, “She’s trash. She can’t compare to
you.”
They kissed.
Charles‘ face turned red. He slapped me. “You
hate your sister. You embarrassed this family.”

The cops burst in.
