A stack of documents hit her in the face.
“Is all of this true?” Silas’s voice was ice–cold.
Sienna stared at the black–and–white text, trembling. “No, it’s not true. It’s all fake.”
“Fake? Then who’s this in the surveillance footage?” He grabbed her by the neck, squeezing her face. “Don’t tell me someone stole your face to
make the deal.”
Sienna screamed in terror as amniotic fluid and blood gushed out
under her.
“I’m going into labor. Hubby, please, help me!”
“Don’t call me that! You’re not worthy!” Veins bulged in his neck. “I’ll ask you one thing, answer honestly. If you lie, you and that baby die right here.
“You said you saw Thalia and Carlos go to a hotel twice. You claimed you caught them at the wedding, too. You said you had video. I never had the guts to watch it. Show me the video. Now.
“I–I deleted it by accident! Aah!”
She tried to dodge the question, but Silas stepped on her stomach, making her shake in pain.
“I was wrong! I lied! I–I was just jealous of her. I loved you too much. I

didn’t think you’d believe me.”
Silas closed his eyes, his body trembling, then turned and walked away without looking back.
“Don’t go! Please, help me!” Sienna wailed. “I’m carrying your baby!”
“You don’t deserve to have my child,” Silas said coldly. “I only got with you because the doctor said Thalia couldn’t get pregnant anymore. I needed you to carry my child for her.
“You should feel all the pain Thalia went through, too.”
玄
The door slammed shut, blocking off Sienna’s screams.
“Silas, we’ve confirmed Carlos is in New York. The Lawrence family just announced plans for a wedding.”
Silas clenched his phone, smiling happily.
Carlos was marrying the heiress of the Lawrence family. Did that mean he still had a chance to win Thalia back?
I glanced down at the dress I was wearing in embarrassment. “Carlos, isn’t this too much? Won’t I outshine Ms. Lawrence?”
He stared at my reflection in the mirror, entranced. “She picked it out for you herself.”
Then he smiled bitterly. “You’re still so polite with me, do you still won’t say yes to me?”
I stayed silent for a moment before hearing his quiet voice, “Thalia, we were in love once. You left me and went back home because of the situation between my dad and your mom. After all these years, don’t I
deserve a second chance?”
I wanted to respond, but Carlos’s face had turned pale, and he said hastily, “It’s time. I need to go greet the guests.
“You don’t have to answer now, Thalia. Just give me a chance.”
I watched his back as he walked away, then slowly shook my head.
The door opened, and I looked up. “Carlos, if…”
But when I saw who it was, my expression hardened. I stood vigilantly. “Silas? Who let you in? Where’s the security guard?”
“Thalia.” He looked at me with red eyes that were full of longing. He looked thinner.
“I’ve been looking for you everywhere. I knew it. Carlos must’ve taken you away.” He choked up. “I got the package. I know now. It was all Sienna’s doing. It was my fault. I was wrong.”
He suddenly dropped to his knees, sobbing. “Can you give me another chance? For the sake of the love we once had…”
“Thalia, please… I loved you so much back then, I would’ve given up my life for you.”
I stood there, dazed. Seeing him on his knees, crying just like that night, but this time, even more desperate.
Back then, even facing death, he hadn’t looked so desperate, so scared, so humble
“Thalia, you know how much I love you. I’m just scared that you don’t love me anymore. I made a small mistake. You can’t condemn me to

death for one small slip–up on the path we were supposed to walk together.”
He sobbed, reaching out to grab my hand.
But someone else beat him to it.
It was Carlos.
I took Carlos’s hand, watching as Silas’s face grew pale with disbelief.
“You’re right, Silas. It was just a small mistake. Nothing serious,” I said softly.
“But I haven’t made any mistakes. I shouldn’t have wasted my life because of yours.”
“Is Carlos any better?! He’s secretly engaged to Ms. Lawrence! Today, Thalia, this is his wedding to Ms. Lawrence! He lied to you, too.”
I stepped aside, letting him see the couple standing at the center of the stage.
“Ms. Lawrence’s marriage to her husband has nothing to do with me,” Carlos scoffed.
Silas stood frozen, his face slowly crumbling as I followed Carlos out.
When I closed the door behind me, I spoke for the last time to him, “Silas, the hand that betrays true love will face retribution.
“The rest of your life will be your retribution. Live with that.”
I heard that two years after I left America, Silas fell into depression.

The medicine piled up, but he only became thinner.
Silas had lost both his parents at a young age, and then his grandfather, who had brought him up, passed away too.
Now, sick and alone, all those so–called friends of his had disappeared without a trace.
He had once had real friends, but after seeing what happened to Mike, no one was willing to care for him anymore.
And so, he continued his descent into the abyss.
After the initial envy and shock, netizens began to remember the grand wedding he had once arranged for me years ago.
As netizens dug deeper, the twisted love triangle between me, Silas, and Sienna was exposed.
His and Sienna’s reputations were ruined, and even the company’s shares plummeted.
But he no longer cared about any of that. He simply sold off all his shares.
Sienna was rushed to the hospital by a neighbor. She gave birth to a child but died from severe bleeding.
Someone called Silas to the hospital.
He stared down at the baby in the swaddling cloth–dark–skinned, clearly not his child.
He couldn’t stop laughing. In the end, he covered his face, crying, muttering one word, “Retribution.”

Everyone eagerly discussed how a rare business genius like Silas had
fallen.
Once praised as the industry’s golden boy, he lost everything at the peak of his life: his wife, his career, and his health at the age of 30.
Betrayed by true love and ended up with someone else’s kid.
In the end, people could only say, “Maybe it really is retribution.”
Carlos and I had a simple wedding.
The grass, the band, just Carlos and me, along with the Lawrence family who had helped me.
When Carlos and I both said, “I do,” a thin figure flashed behind the
tree.
I didn’t pay it much attention, simply tossing my bouquet into the air.
The priest spoke, “I wish you both a lifetime of happiness.”
I whispered softly to myself, “We will.”
