Chapter 121
But Mia wasn’t responding, just clinging to Sarah’s shirt without letting go, no matter what Sarah asked.
Zachary looked at Sarah apologetically. “She seems very attached to you.”
Η
Though it was strange, Sarah let Mia hold onto her.

“It’s okay. She probably needs to feel secure right now and wants someone with her.”
It was getting late, and Sarah was worried about Mia’s condition. “Can Mia stay here tonight?”
Zachary had been considering this in the car, but he was concerned about Sarah’s injury.
–
“You’re hurt – how can you take care of her? I should take her home,” Zachary said, glancing at Sarah’s swollen leg.
Besides, Mia’s episode today had been hard to control even with him there. It would be even harder for Sarah alone if he left.
But nobody expected Mia to start crying again when Zachary tried to take her away.
–
It wasn’t loud sobbing this time, but pitiful whimpering as she curled up in the corner hugging her knees a sight that would break anyone’s heart.
She kept mumbling, “Don’t go, don’t leave Sarah.”
Hearing this, Sarah’s heart melted. “It’s fine, let her stay. Look at her she won’t cause any trouble.”
“I’m worried she might have another episode. I’ll stay too, sleep on the couch. Call me if anything happens.”
Sarah wanted to refuse, but seeing his exhausted face after everything that had happened today, after all he’d done….
“Don’t take the couch. Mia can sleep with me, and there’s a guest room. The bedding’s in the closet – help yourself.”
“Thank you,” Zachary said seriously.
Sarah smiled. “No need for thanks. You helped me today too.”
From the competition to the incident in the medical room – she was truly grateful to Zachary
As night fell deeper, Mia was asleep.
But Sarah lay awake, tossing and turning. Mia’s behavior today had been so unusual. If her episode was triggered by touching on
fearful memories, why did she insist on seeing Sarah when she became somewhat lucid? And why could she depend on Sarah even while lost in the past?
What exactly had happened to Mia?
Unable to sleep, Sarah noticed her scalded leg was feeling better after two applications of burn cream. Apart from some alarming
swelling, even the peeling skin looked less frightening.

Feeling thirsty, she pushed herself up and left the room, only to be startled by a figure sitting on the couch,
“Zachary?” she called tentatively.
–
The figure turned it was Zachary, his eyes full of worry. He managed a small smile when he saw her. “Why aren’t you asleep?”
“Couldn’t sleep. Came for some water.” Sarah kept steadying herself against nearby furniture.
Zachary nodded, got up, and went to the kitchen. He returned with a glass of warm water. “Here.”
“Thanks.”
Sarah carefully made her way to the other end of the couch and sat down. “You’re worried, aren’t you?”
“Sasa, can you help Mia get better?” he asked.
Sarah took a sip of water and placed the glass on the coffee table. “When I saw Mia’s episode today, I wasn’t sure either. I even wondered if I’d been too presumptuous in agreeing to treat her, overestimating my abilities. But something changed when she came back with you. It’s strange – it’s like her trust in me isn’t just because I’m
Sarah.”
