“Who says that? Must be some fool–every day, they make me so angry I can’t even eat!” Richard glared pointedly at James.

“Grandpa, do you have to call me out like this?” James replied with a helpless smile.
Before the conversation could continue, the door opened, and Lucy strode in. She made a beeline for Richard, putting on her
sweetest expression. “Grandpa, I came to see you.”
Richard gave her a cold glance and said nothing.

“You’ve got some nerve showing up here after what you did to Sarah,” he finally snapped. “And you still have the audacity to look.
me in the eye?
Lucy feigned remorse. “Grandpa, I know I was wrong.”
Sarah stood off to the side, her expression icy as she glanced at James. If she had known this would turn into a family reunion, she
wouldn’t have come.
“Sarah treated you so well–how could you be so ungrateful? Apologize to her right now! If you can’t do that, get out and don’t
come back!” Richard demanded sternly.
Lucy turned to Sarah with exaggerated humility, pulling out a wrapped package. “Sarah, I’m really sorry. I bought this specialty
French pastry for you. Please forgive me.”
Sarah didn

to take it. She didn’t believe Lucy’s apology for a second–this was the same person who had caused her so much trouble. The idea of Lucy genuinely changing was laughable.
Richard, clearly dissatisfied, barked, “Is that how you apologize? Show some sincerity!”
Lucy forced a smile, though her eyes betrayed the venom behind it. “Sarah, I truly know I was wrong.”

Richard sighed. “Sarah, even if you don’t forgive her, just take the gift. Consider it my way of making amends for her.”
After a moment’s hesitation, Sarah accepted the package. Richard had always treated her like family, even better than a granddaughter. Out of respect for him, she decided not to make a scene.
She moved to a side table to open the elaborately wrapped box, as the butler was busy in the kitchen.
“James, go help her!” Lucy urged James, her tone dripping with fake enthusiasm.
James found the situation odd, Lucy had always hated Sarah–why would she suddenly bring her gifts and act so concerned?
Still, he walked over to Sarah, helping her with the intricate ribbon and wrapping. They worked together to unbox the expensive pastries.
Meanwhile, Lucy slipped to a corner, pulling out her phone. She snapped a photo from a carefully chosen angle that could easily be misinterpreted. A wicked grin spread across her face as she sent the picture.

At Reynolds Corporation, Zachary was in the middle of a meeting when his phone pinged. He glanced at the screen and froze.
The photo showed Sarah and James standing close together, laughing as they opened the gift. Their apparent intimacy sent a chill
through him.
“We’ll continue this later,” he said quietly.
The room quickly emptied, leaving him alone. His hand trembled slightly as he scrolled through the image again, the scene
replaying in his mind. The timestamp confirmed the picture was recent–this was happening now.
Why was Sarah with James? Why did they look so at ease, so close? His jaw tightened as questions filled his mind.
