Chapter 170
Zachary opened the latest post- an audio file. When he played it, he heard a conversation between a woman and Sarah.
Mia was surprised too. Besides their voices, she heard Dean Larson’s voice. “Ha! Let’s see what those trolls say now! That professor stole Sarah’s paper!”
She recognized Professor Wells’s voice too – they must be in a meeting
She happily posted several comments under the recording. “Zac, Sarah’s okay now.”
Zachary’s expression darkened. “Let me take you home first.”
“We’re not waiting for Sarah?”
“I’ll come back after dropping you off.”
Mia’s eyes widened with excitement. “Zac, hurry then! When are you going to make Sarah my sister–in–law?”
Zachary patted her head, amused by her persistence. He smiled, “Soon.”
Back in her office, Sarah reviewed everything carefully, even checking the security footage, but found no clues. Who had stolen her paper?
Could Grace really have stolen it herself? O
She packed up and left the building, surprised to find Zachary waiting.
“You’re
‘re done?” he asked.
After their last encounter, Sarah felt awkward being near him. That close face, cool lips, warm fingertips.
Heavens, what was she thinking?
The more she tried not to think about it, the more her eyes kept drifting to his lips.
Those gentle eyes that she could drown in
She looked away. “Where’s Mia?”
Zachary opened the car door for her. “Already home.”
Sarah froze. “So… you came specially for me?”
Zachary didn’t answer, just got in the driver’s seat, closed the window, and started the car.
Sarah uncomfortably looked out the window, avoiding his gaze.
“Are you avoiding me?” Zachary raised an eyebrow.

Sarah shook her head quickly. “No, not at all.”

“Are you afraid of me?” he asked.
“Why would I be afraid? I’m not.”
She felt warmth on her hand – Zachary had placed his hand over hers. She blushed, trying to pull away, but he held on tighter.
“Watch the road.”
Zachary withdrew his hand. “Don’t worry, I’m extra careful when you’re in the car.”
“Be careful even when I’m not,” Sarah said seriously, her palm sweating.
At her apartment, she found the door locked when she tried to get out. “Unlock it.”
Zachary unbuckled his seatbelt and leaned closer. “Why so eager to run away?”
Sarah nervously shrank back as far as she could.
Zachary moved closer until she couldn’t avoid his face anymore.
Sarah blushed, pushing at him slightly as his warm breath touched her face. Her heart raced as she slowly closed her eyes. She heard a soft laugh as he unlocked the door. “What were you
you thinking?”
Sarah opened her eyes and pinched his arm in annoyance.
“Goodbye.” She rushed into the elevator.
Her heart eventually steadied, but her face grew redder remembering her behavior.
Why was she acting more and more like a lovesick teenager? Pinching him like that – how embarrassing!
At home, she took a shower and had a quick bite. Opening the fridge, she noticed the unfinished medicine.
