Chapter 185
She looked nervously at Zachary. Had she mistaken?
“Yes, you can go now.”
After the nurse left, Sarah glared at Zachary. “You… you just…”
“What did I do? You heard what she said?” Zachary gave her a knowing look.
He even licked his lips, making Sarah turn away in embarrassment, pulling the hospital blanket over as she rolled to face the
window.
How mortifying – being caught like that, and now the nurse thought they were a couple.
Her face felt hotter than her fever.
Worse still, Zachary moved to her other side, still smiling.
Knowing she could barely move, she swung weakly at his shoulder, the slap echoing surprisingly loud in the quiet room.
“Why didn’t you dodge!”
“Didn’t hurt at all,” Zachary smiled softly, then stepped away to answer his phone.
His expression darkened after hanging up.
Sarah noticed the change. “What’s wrong?”
“They’ve taken Grace Harrison’s daughter.” Zachary’s face was grim.
Sarah froze. Lucy had just been arrested, and now Grace’s daughter was taken – James moved fast.
Knowing the Chancers‘ underhanded tactics, they’d probably come for her soon.
Sure enough, just after dawn, right after Zachary left, James arrived with his mother and Charlotte. Unlike their previous
arrogant visit to the campus clinic, Mrs. Chancer now looked pale and furious.
“Get out! I’m calling security!” Sarah said weakly.
With Zachary gone, Mrs. Chancer rushed forward, jabbing her finger at Sarah. “You b*tch! First you got Lucy detained, now
you’ve sent her to prison! You want her dead, don’t you? Do you hate our family that much? Why don’t you just take my life
instead!”
Sarah looked at her tiredly, the shrill voice intensifying her migraine. Usually, nurses would have appeared by now – James must have pulled some strings.
Charlotte stepped in, “Sarah, you hate the Chancers because of me. I’ll apologize so please let Lucy go.”

“How cruel! Lucy’s barely twenty!”

Sarah laughed bitterly. “James, I never saw you clearly before. I thought you were just naive, but now I see your whole family is
completely shameless.”
James remained silent, looking at Sarah’s pale, exhausted face with a touch of regret.
His previous outburst at the clinic had been impulsive. He hadn’t regretted it then, but seeing Sarah now, he knew they shouldn‘
have come.
“Sarah, Lucy was wrong. She hurt you,” James said with a bitter smile.
Mrs. Chancer whirled on him. “What are you saying! Lucy is innocent! I see it now – you and Zachary plotted this together agains
- us. You must have paid Grace off too!”
Sarah gave a cold laugh. “James, you know perfectly well whether I bribed Grace. Her daughter disappeared this morning – and you know exactly who took her. Now you bring your whole family here to threaten me? Have you no
shame?”
