Chapter 191
In the study, the tense atmosphere made Zachary uncomfortable. William sat at his mahogany desk, working on his art, not even glancing up.
After what felt like forever, he finished and set down his brush. “What’s been keeping you so busy lately?”
“Just business matters.”
“Business? Seems more like romance. I don’t oppose relationships, but you should know about this woman’s history.” William looked concerned.
Zachary smiled wryly. “Grandfather, I know Sarah better than anyone. Don’t listen to gossip.”
William chuckled. “How would you know?”
Zachary shrugged. “If nobody had complained to you, why this sudden summons?”
“Indeed, someone sent me some troubling emails.”
Zachary remained silent. William probably didn’t believe the rumors. He was likely just testing him.
“Your personal life is your business. Make your own choices. You can go.” William waved him away.
After the academic scandal, Sarah signed with the Psychology Journal, publishing her research.
This caused quite a stir at the university, making headlines on the campus website.
At the police station, Lucy waited anxiously. She didn’t know when her brother would bail her out, but finally, a lawyer in an expensive suit arrived.
“Miss Chancer, after the witness recanted, they can only hold you for twenty–four hours. Eighteen have passed. I can arrange bail, though it’ll take some paperwork. Remember your right to silence.”
Lucy nodded firmly, understanding the implication.
The thought of freedom brought a smirk to her face.
Sarah, she thought, you never saw this coming!
At Reynolds Enterprises, Zachary was at his laptop when his phone buzzed. His lips curved into a smile at the message.
Meanwhile, James hurled a Wedgwood teacup against his office wall.
“How is this possible?! What am I paying you for?”
“You can’t even watch one kid! Why do I keep you on payroll?”
His security chief trembled. “Sir, they had a professional team.”

“Enough! Are you saying I hired amateurs?” James’s eyes narrowed.
The man quickly shook his head. “Sorry, sir.”
“Useless!”
James clenched his fists. Grace’s daughter had been rescued – obviously by Zachary’s team.
Just one signature remained for Lucy’s release. How had it fallen apart?
When the lawyer went to collect Lucy, everything changed.
Officers suddenly grabbed her. Lucy panicked and tried to bolt but was blocked.

“What are you doing?! I’m being released! My attorney is right here!” Lucy couldn’t believe it – the precinct exit had been ten
steps away.
“Lucy Chancer, the witness has named you as the mastermind. You’re under arrest!” The detective showed her the warrant.
The attorney stared at it in shock, the bail paperwork slipping from his leather portfolio.
As they led her to booking, Lucy screamed, “Call my brother! Get him to fix this!”
The attorney stormed out and speed–dialed James. “Mr. Chancer, what happened? Why did Grace suddenly change her
story?”
