Even though Richard doted on her, Lucy was still his real granddaughter. He could lesson, but he couldn’t bear to watch her suffer indefinitely.

Sarah stood up, rubbing her numb legs from crouching. “Grandfather, because you’ve been good to me, I can be lenient. But I’m not sure she’ll change her ways.”
She had given Lucy multiple chances, yet Lucy kept stirring up trouble time and time again.
Richard sighed. “Don’t worry, once she’s out, Ill confine her to the old mansion. I won’t let her cause you any more trouble. I there’s a next time, I absolutely won’t have the nerve to come asking for mercy again.”
For an elder to plead on behalf of a younger generation was already quite humbling. The fact that he was asking Sarah made it an even bigger decision
If Mrs. Chancer and James hadn’t repeatedly come to beg him, crying and showing him videos, he wouldn’t have gotten involved at all
Sarah nodded. She could ignore James and Mrs. Chancer, but she couldn’t bring herself to refuse Richard
After all, when the Chancer family had turned against her and she felt completely alone, Richard had always protected her and stood up for her.
“Grandfather, please tell Lucy that if she unwisely chooses to provoke me again, I will personally send her to prison.” She left without looking back
Though she was letting Lucy off, she didn’t want to face the Chancer family anymore. She would remember Richard’s kindness, but she couldn’t forget how they used this method to make her relent. She disliked being emotionally manipulated
by playing the sympathy card, they would inevitably lose that sympathy.
After Sarah left, Richard sat up in his hospital bed, watching her departing figure, knowing she was disappointed.
He glared at James, “You can’t even handle such a small matter properly. Lucy has been spoiled by your mother! I’ve warned you many times to discipline her well. If you had, all this wouldn’t have happened. When she gets out, send her straight to the old mansion”
“Yes, Grandfather,” James replied uncomfortably.
After leaving the hospital, Charlotte noticed he seemed lost in thought. “James, are you alright?”
“I’m fine,” he said glumly.
Charlotte linked her arm through his, “By the way, my parents are pushing for our wedding. They’re already picking out clothes for the ceremony.”
She was subtly reminding James. She hadn’t been in a hurry before because she felt James loved her deeply, but now she was worried
“Discuss the wedding details with my mother,” James said
Charlotte nodded happily, “I’ll make sure to plan everything well with auntie.”
As they walked, she continued, “I must wear the most beautiful wedding dress, and the perfect shoes.”
James responded absently, “Okay”
When Sarah got home, she found Mia and Zachary were there. Though her mood was low, she managed a smile.
“You’re back so soon?”
Mia said meaningfully. “Brother got the shots he wanted and came back!”
“What did you photograph?”
Zachary came to her side and pulled her to sit down, “What happened?”

Sarah gave a faint smile, “Richard was just admitted to the hospital.”
“So you’re sad because he’s sick?” Zachary held her hand.
Mia also sat down, looking at Sarah with concem.
Sarah shook her head, “That’s not it. Family ties really are important. I thought Richard cared deeply for me, comes to his granddaughter, I don’t really matter.”
“Did he ask yo
you to release Lucy?”
“No, he just pleaded for mercy. He didn’t force me, but I agreed,” Sarah pressed her lips together.
