Chapter 215
him
She dimmed the living room lights to a warm glow and tried to help Zachary to the bedroom, but she was too weak to lift him
After struggling until her forehead was sweaty, she gave up. She found hangover medicine in the hotel’s first–aid kit, got a glass of warm water, helped him take the medicine, and covered him with a blanket. Just as she was about to return to the bedroom, he grabbed her wrist.
“Don’t go. Zachary whispered
Sarah sat back down on the sofa. He kept mumbling something, and when she leaned closer, she finally heard it clearly.
Sasa, Sasa, I’m sorry…”
Sorry?
Why was he apologizing again?
He’d already apologized during their walk after dinner, and now again?
She leaned close to his face. His handsome features seemed troubled by something deep, his eyelashes trembling. His hand
was so warm it almost burned her skin.
The smell of alcohol lingered, but his unique scent remained.
She tapped his lips gently with her finger, “What are you hiding from me?”
She whispered softly, as if asking both him and herself.
Minutes later, dark clouds rolled across the starry sky outside, and rain poured down heavily
Under the streetlight by the floor–to–ceiling windows, the rain fell in torrents.
The reflecting raindrops looked like falling streaks of light. She watched peacefully, covering her eyes then uncovering them,
“A meteor shower.”
She slid down from the sofa to sit on the carpet, gently leaning against Zachary’s shoulder.
In the middle of the night, Zachary woke with a start to find Sarah asleep sitting on the floor.
He immediately sat up and lifted her into his arms,
“Zachary?” She rubbed her eyes like a sleepy cat
He carried her toward the bedroom, “Why were you sleeping in the living room?”
Sarah wrapped her arms around his neck, “I tried to get you to the bedroom, but I couldn’t move you, and you were holding
my wrist ”
“I’m sorry” Zachary gently laid her on the soft bed and tucked her in
“It’s okay, I wanted to stay with you. It rained hard, and the raindrops looked like falling stars” Her eyes sparkled like a
child’s
Zachary laughed softly and kissed her forehead, “Next time you see that, wake me up. You sleep first, I need a shower”
He was worried she wouldn’t like the smell of alcohol on him.
Sarah nodded, tiredly closing her eyes.
Hall asleep, she saw Zachary emerge from the bathroom shirtless, his damp hair misty with steam. As soon as he got into bed, she curled into his arms, “You took so long”
“Did 1 wake you?” Zachary placed his hand on her back

Sarah kept her eyes closed “No.”
She touched his face with her other hand and asked, “Why did you keep say
Zachary’s heart jumped, I was afraid you wouldn’t like me drunk,”
Sorry?”
He waited a while for an answer, but looking down, he saw she had fallen into deep sleep
After returning from the resort island, Sarah’s mood improved considerably. She’d stopped thinking about the wedding
Incident
James had married Charlotte, and she no longer needed any connection to the Chancer family.
Or so she thought, but trouble arose again
Before one wave settled, another began. A news story went viral about Sarah trying to seduce her ex–husband, now a newlywed groom, at his wedding. The article included many photos- some of her talking alone with James, the torn marriage certificate and wedding photos, and several shots of her appearing to get too close to Scott.
