Chapter 65
“Oh my!” Mia exclaimed. “How clumsy of you, Charlotte. You should have moved when I offered you a drink. Now everyone will think I did it on purpose!”
“It’s fine, Miss Reynolds. My fault entirely.” Charlotte’s face was strained,
A crowd had gathered, just as they had when Mia’s dress was ruined earlier.

Mia feigned sympathy, “How unlucky- the same thing happened to my dress earlier! Fortunately, I have several spare
upstairs. Let me lend you one?”
Before Charlotte could answer, Lucy jumped in. “Yes, that would be wonderful! Thank you.”
She hoped this might help them get closer to Zachary.
Charlotte, unaware of Lucy’s motives, had no choice – her stained dress was unwearable. She nodded politely. “Thank you, Miss
Reynolds.”
Upstairs, Mia laid out several gowns on the bed. “Take your pick.
Charlotte’s eyes flickered with envy. She recognized many of these gowns as exclusive haute couture pieces from brands that
weren’t available to just anyone. Even having money wasn’t enough to buy these–the brands carefully guarded their image, only
selling to those deemed suitable to maintain their prestige.
Some of these designs had been on her wishlist for years, but she had never been able to acquire them. Suppressing her jealousy, Charlotte selected a gown and went into the changing room.
As soon as the door clicked shut, Mia’s smile vanished, and she immediately headed back downstairs.
Meanwhile, Lucy had wandered off to find her mother, who was engaged in an animated conversation with other well–dressed
women.
“The nerve of her, showing up at a Reynolds event! Doesn’t she care about running into us?”
Someone asked, “Sarah seems quite proper though, not like what you described?”
Mrs. Chancer became animated. “It’s all an act! Pure facade!”
She spotted Lucy behind her. “Where’s Charlotte?”
“Powder room,” Lucy said softly.
In front of these influential people, she couldn’t mention the wine incident – she had to cover for them.
As Lucy was planning how to slander Sarah further, Mia reappeared.
Lucy looked behind her, confused. “Where’s Charlotte?”

Mia replied curtly, “Still changing. I came to tell you my brother wants to see you in the leftmost room upstairs. Hurry up.”
“Zachary wants to see me?” Lucy lit up, then remembered the plot against Sarah. She eyed Mia suspiciously. “Why?”
“How would I know?” Mia snapped, rolling her eyes. “But I did see him holding a necklace–the one he spent billions on last time! I’ve begged him for it a hundred times, and he’s never given it to me. He even said not to tell anyone. Do you think I’d go through all the trouble of getting your sister–in–law out of the way for nothing?”
Mia’s sharp glare silenced Lucy’s doubts. “If you’re not going, then fine! I’ll just keep the necklace for myself!”
Lucy panicked and quickly stepped in front of Mia. “Mia, if Zachary asked for me, of course, I’m going!”
