Chapter 67
“Lucy, you’ve crossed the line one too many times, but this time, your actions are truly malicious,” Sarah said, her tone ice cold.
“Do you really think the Chancer family will always have your back? What if this time, not even they can save you?”
me:
“I’m part of the Chancer family! Of course my brother will stand by me. And you! What right do you have to talk down to
Aren’t you the one relying on Zachary Reynolds to shield you? I’ve done nothing wrong, so stop accusing me!” Lucy’s voice was
sharp, shrill enough to pierce through the air.
Zachary’s gaze, cold and piercing, locked onto Lucy, making her squirm. “Miss Chancer, you should know what happened in the
garden earlier. Why did you do it?”
“Mr. Reynolds! You have to believe me–it wasn’t me! It was her!” Lucy pointed a trembling finger at Sarah. “That man must have been someone she arranged to frame me! I had nothing to do with it!”
Meanwhile, Charlotte had just finished changing out of her stained dress in one of the upstairs rooms and was heading downstairs when she heard a loud commotion. A sharp, almost hysterical voice echoed through the hallway. Curious, she moved
closer to listen and quickly recognized Lucy’s voice. As she eavesdropped, she realized that Lucy was arguing with Sarah, and she
also heard Zachary’s voice in the mix.
Alarmed, Charlotte hurried downstairs to inform the Chancer family. “James, you need to go upstairs! Lucy seems to be arguing
with Sarah!”
“What?! That woman dares bully my daughter!” Mrs. Chancer exclaimed, storming toward the staircase.
James and Mrs. Chancer followed Charlotte up to the second floor. When they entered the room, they were greeted by the sight of
Lucy sobbing pitifully, tears streaming down her face as she begged Zachary for understanding. Sarah stood nearby with Steven,
calmly observing the scene.
Mrs. Chancer rushed to her daughter’s side, cradling her protectively. “My darlingl, what happened? Who hurt you?”
Her gaze darted to Sarah, and her expression twisted with fury. “It was you, wasn’t it? What did you do to her? Why must you
always hurt Lucy?”
James, his face somber, turned to Zachary and said firmly, “Mr. Reynolds, while the Chancer family may not rival the Reynolds family in power, we are not to be trifled with.”
“Lucy, tell us what happened!” Charlotte added, moving closer to Lucy with a look of concern.
Lucy, however, shoved Charlotte’s hand away and sneered, “This is all because of your stupid idea!”
James’s brow furrowed, his voice sharp. “Lucy, what nonsense are you talking about? That’s your sister–in–law. Now tell us what happened, clearly!”
Charlotte tried to defuse the tension, her tone soft and encouraging. “Lucy, it’s okay. Just tell us everything. After all, it’s just the few of us here no one else knows what really happened.”

Lucy shot her a knowing glance, suddenly catching on to Charlotte’s subtle hints. She lowered her gaze, her voice turning meek
and pitiful. “Well… earlier, Mia came to tell me that Mr. Reynolds wanted to meet me here. I wasn’t sure why, but I came upstairs anyway. But when I got here, there was no sign of Mr. Reynolds–just some middle–aged man who tried to assault me! I barely
managed to escape. Then, Sarah and Mr. Reynolds arrived together. This has to be Sarah’s plan to humiliate me in front of Mr.
Reynolds!”
Mrs. Chancer gasped in horror, clutching her daughter tightly. “How dare she!” she shrieked, her anger directed squarely at
Sarah.
Sarah, her gaze icy, finally spoke. Her voice was calm yet laced with an unyielding sharpness. “Lucy, your lies are getting bolder
by the minute. Let’s see how far this one takes
you.“!
