Chapter 70
“Who’s uncomfortable? I’ve never thought of her as…”
“Lucy, I understand you’re upset and saying things you don’t mean, but since Miss Sanders is ready to call the police, it’s better for you to admit your mistake now.” Charlotte quickly interrupted Lucy, cutting off her words.
Lucy shot her a venomous glare but understood that Charlotte was giving her an out. Reluctantly, she looked at Sarah, her expression defiant even as she muttered, “Fine. It was my fault.”
Sarah could see through her act; Lucy’s apology was anything but sincere. But given this was Zachary’s event and she was here as his guest, Sarah didn’t want to blow things further out of proportion–especially since it was clear Old Mr. Reynolds was already displeased with the commotion.
“Since Miss Chancer has admitted her wrongdoing, I won’t pursue this for now. But let me make one thing clear: stay out of my way. If you provoke me again, this video will be handed over to the police,” Sarah declared firmly.
Zachary’s sharp gaze swept over Lucy and Charlotte as he added, his tone icy, “Sarah is here as my guest. What happened tonight
is partly my responsibility. Miss Chancer, think carefully before you act next time. Don’t make decisions you’ll regret.”
Sarah’s heart warmed at his words. With the Chancer family, all she ever received were accusations and insults. But with Zachary, he stood behind her time and again, offering his unwavering support.
“Mr. Reynolds, thank you for dealing with this today,” Sarah said, her voice steady and composed.
Old Mr. Reynolds nodded, his gaze shifting to James. “Young man, I imagine you have pressing matters at your company. event doesn’t need your presence anymore.”
This
James’s face turned pale, but he quickly bowed his head in agreement. “Thank you for your hospitality, Mr. Reynolds. I’ll take my
leave and visit another time.”
Mrs. Chancer looked at James in confusion, while Lucy’s red–rimmed eyes glared resentfully at Sarah. Only Charlotte seemed to
understand the unspoken message in Old Mr. Reynolds‘ words: he was dissatisfied with the Chancer family’s actions and was
politely showing them the door.
As the Chancer family made their way to the entrance, they crossed paths with Mr. Reynolds and Mia descending the grand.
staircase, accompanied by Zachary and Sarah walking side by side.
The dazzling lights of the banquet hall reflected off the marble floors and the towering wine glass pyramid, painting a scene of
opulence. Zachary and Sarah looked perfectly matched–refined and elegant, like a couple from a fairytale storybook.
James turned back, momentarily stunned. In that radiant tableau, Sarah stood out, her poise and confidence undeniable. Yet,
standing beside Zachary, she also exuded a soft, graceful charm.
Unconsciously, James clenched his fists. The image of Sarah, now so far removed from him, felt like a distant dream slipping
further away.

Charlotte, standing beside him, noticed his reaction. Though uneasy, she stayed silent. After all, James was her husband, even if his gaze lingered on someone else.
As soon as
stepped outside, Lucy, still fuming, demanded, “James! What business is so urgent that you had to leave now? Why can’t Mom and I stay instead?”
Charlotte lowered her gaze, silently dismissing Lucy as foolish and naive.
Inside the banquet hall, the departure of the Chancer family caused no stir. It was as though they had never been there. After all,
