Chapter 77
He hadn’t seen her wearing it at yesterday’s party and thought she might not have liked it.
“Steven and Mia certainly found their chance to get revenge for you today,” Zachary said with resignation.
During dinner, Mia had ordered many desserts, and Steven had gone all out with the dishes until the table could barely hold any
more before finally letting up.
“Thanks for the treat. Next time I treat, you can get your revenge,” Sarah said playfully.
Zachary found himself momentarily mesmerized by her smile.
He quickly recovered. “Looking forward to it.”
At the apartment building, Sarah helped Mia upstairs.
The Chancer family quickly removed the forum posts about Lucy. Though no one dared mention it online anymore, Lucy could still feel her classmates‘ contemptuous glances whenever she entered the classroom.
With less than a week until the psychology competition, her main goal was to get Sarah removed before it began. Though she couldn’t influence school leadership, she could target Sarah directly.
At the counseling office.
The activities department students brought the sponsorship contract, already signed by Zachary.
“Thanks to Mia, we got the Reynolds Group’s sponsorship. They’re way more prestigious than the Chancer family.
“Yeah! Lucy really thought she could control everything!”
Sarah had just finished counseling a student and was pouring water when she saw the activities department students.
“Everyone’s here?”
She had called them specifically to prepare for the competition.
“Miss Sanders, we’ve completed the contract signing,” a student placed it on Sarah’s desk
Another student handed over a list. “These are the proposed judges. Should we make any changes?”
Sarah took the list, which mostly included the school’s psychology professors and Dean Larson – a reasonable arrangement.
Sarah noticed her own name among the judges. “I think we should add one more person.”
“Who? It’s been basically the same people every year.”
“Psychologist Jane Lawrence.”
The students were shocked. One asked uncertainly, “You mean THE Jane Lawrence? The one who’s been on TV, done interviews,

and just returned from abroad?”
“That’s right,” Sarah nodded.
She handed the list back. “You handle the listed judges, and I’ll try to contact Jane.”
“Yes. If we could get Jane Lawrence as a judge, this would be our most prestigious competition ever.”
After the students left, Sarah briefly reviewed the contract. Now they just needed the judges.
Jane would be hard to get. She’d become famous early on and was as respected in psychology research as Professor Wells. Having
her would really motivate the students.
In the campus garden, a student whispered something in Lucy’s car.
“What?! She’s trying to invite Jane Lawrence!” Lucy’s eyes widened as she slapped the stone table.
After hearing Sarah had secured sponsorship, she knew without asking it was Zachary.
If Sarah succeeded in getting Jackson, her status and reputation at Adams would soar. Lucy couldn’t let that happen.
“I heard Jane’s really hard to book. She probably won’t be interested in a school competition. She even turned down being a judge for the national psychology competition in Brookshire City, let alone just Adams
University.”
