Chapter 83
Mia casually quipped, “That doesn’t stop me from missing you, doesn’t it?”
Zachary chuckled lightly. “That’s right, Mia.”
Sarah couldn’t help but laugh at their exchange, her smile radiant like a burst of fireworks.
The guests at the party were abuzz with excitement as they watched Zachary. Although the Chancer family’s guest list was filled with notable figures, very few truly prominent individuals attended, and someone of Zachary Reynolds‘ stature was almost impossible to invite.

These guests encountered someone like Zachary before. Many spent their lives trying to break into high–profile circles, hoping for a chance to connect with a man of his influence.
James hadn’t expected this himself. He sent invitations to all the major players out of habit, never thinking Zachary would actually show up.
Seeing Zachary laughing with Sarah made James’s eyes burn with jealousy, his expression darkening into something almost
frightening
Charlotte noticed his reaction and spoke with a hint of grievance. “Miss Sanders is clearly closer to Mr. Reynolds. When I tried to
greet her earlier, she seemed to have a significant misunderstanding about me. James, do you think she’s still holding a grudge against me?”
“This isn’t your fault, Charlotte–it’s mine,” James said, patting her shoulder in reassurance. “Besides, who knows? Maybe she’s
the one who was unfaithful during our marriage. You’re just too kind. Don’t let her bother you.”
Meanwhile, Sarah found herself constantly interrupted by guests trying to strike up conversations with Zachary. Growing tired of
the interruptions, Zachary finally retreated to a quiet corner, effectively discouraging anyone from approaching him.
Just two minutes before the party officially began, Sarah finally saw the person she had been waiting for.
Jane entered the hall in a striking purple gown, her appearance elegant and full of charm. Despite looking no older than forty, she carried an aura of seasoned sophistication.
Sarah started to move toward her to say hello, but Charlotte intercepted Jane and led her away.
Mia, standing beside Sarah, noticed and asked, “Sarah, is that the person you wanted to meet?” She gave Jane another curious
glance, as she had never seen her before.
“Yes, that’s her,” Sarah confirmed with a nod
Zachary glanced at Jane as well, finding her somewhat familiar. “You’re planning to invite her as a judge for the competition?”
“Yes. If she participates, her feedback will elevate our competition to the next level,” Sarah replied, her determined gaze
reflecting her confidence.

Upstairs, Lucy was still dolling up. Although she had already put on a pearl necklace, she felt it wasn’t enough. She added a pair of diamond earrings for extra flair.
Mrs. Chancer rushed in anxiously. “Lucy! Why are you still up here? Do you know what time it is? Zachary Reynolds is
downstairs!”
“What? Zachary is here?” Lucy shot to her feet, unable to contain her excitement as her face lit up.
“Yes! But right now, he’s talking to that woman!” Mrs. Chancer spat with venom.
Lucy quickly grabbed a bracelet and sprayed on some perfume. Twirling in front of the mirror, she asked, “Mom, do I look good?”
“You look perfect. Tonight, my daughter is the most beautiful princess at this party.”
Satisfied, Lucy descended the stairs, wearing her most expensive gown. The white floor–length dress hugged her figure perfectly, with a strapless design that managed to be both elegant and youthful thanks to its playful backless cut.
As soon as she appeared, all eyes were on her. She quickly spotted Zachary sitting in a corner. Her heart leapt with joy, but her
excitement dimmed when she saw Mia and Sarah sitting beside him.
Her hands clenched into fists as her expression hardened.
Mrs. Chancer followed behind Lucy, escorting her as she exchanged pleasantries with the guests.
After a while, Lucy approached Zachary with a glass of wine in hand, her face adorned with a gentle smile. “Mr. Reynolds, thank
‘you for attending my birthday party.”
