Chapter 84
Lucy approached Zachary with a glass of wine, attempting to clink glasses with him. But Zachary sidestepped her gesture and said calmly, “Apologies, Miss Chancer. I’m here because of Sasa.
Π
Lucy’s face turned pale. Her free hand clenched her dress tightly while the other awkwardly held the glass, unable to move forward or retreat gracefully.
Humiliation washed over her. She regretted approaching Zachary to start a conversation.
Sasa.
That intimate nickname stung deeply. And to think Zachary would publicly brush her off in front of everyone!
Struggling to maintain her composure, Lucy pulled the glass back. “Please, Mr. Reynolds, make yourself comfortable.”
With that, she retreated quickly, her embarrassment trailing behind her.
Sarah couldn’t help but chuckle, her amusement spilling over. “Mr. Reynolds, that was quite the snub. I bet Lucy is seething.”
Zachary shrugged indifferently. “I just told her the truth.”
Mia chimed in teasingly, “I haven’t even mentioned that my brother and I came only because of you, Sarah!”
As the host took the stage to announce the start of the event, Sarah found herself nibbling on some snacks, her mind occupied with figuring out how to approach Jane. Mia returned with a plate of desserts, laughing uncontrollably.
“Sarah, guess what? I just saw Lucy acting super guilty about something. She was holding a USB drive, and when I called her
name, she nearly jumped out of her skin. It was hilarious!” Mia doubled over in laughter.
A USB drive?
Sarah’s gaze shifted to the large screen in the hall, and realization dawned on her. She smirked slightly, “Mia, can you help me with something?”
“Of course!” Mia leaned in as Sarah whispered in her ear.
Meanwhile, James approached Zachary, forcing a polite smile. “I wasn’t expecting you to attend.”
Zachary’s expression remained cool, his tone laced with a subtle edge. “I came because Sasa is here. I didn’t want her to be
mistreated.”
James’s grip on his glass tightened, his knuckles whitening with tension. “Mr. Reynolds, you’re joking, Who could possibly mistreat Sarah? Still, I feel obligated to warn you–she’s not as innocent as she seems.”

Zachary’s voice turned icy, sharp as a blade. “Be careful with your words, Mr. Chancer. I won’t tolerate anyone speaking ill of her.
If there’s any fault, it’s her misjudgment of people.
The repeated use of “Sasa” made James visibly uncomfortable. “Mr. Reynolds, I only meant to give you some friendly advice.”
“That won’t be necessary. Perhaps you should focus on managing your own affairs,” Zachary retorted coldly before returning to
Sarah’s side.
The host began introducing Lucy, who ascended the stage with a composed smile. Inside, she could hardly contain her
excitement. She could almost taste the moment when Sarah would be humiliated in front of everyone.
“Thank you all for attending my birthday party,” Lucy began warmly, “but before we continue, I’d like everyone to watch a short
video.”
Her h
Her heart raced with anticipation. She cast a smug glance at Sarah, who was chatting and laughing with Zachary.
Laugh all you want now, Lucy thought coldly.
Let’s see how long that smile lasts.
She imagined Zachary’s reaction when he saw the photos, realizing what a disgrace Sarah truly was. Lucy convinced herself she
was the only one worthy of being with Zachary–the true lady from a respectable family. Sarah was nothing more than a social
climber.
The screen flickered to life, and Lucy’s smugness grew as she glanced at the journalists she’d specially invited for this moment.
Soon, not just the people at the party but all of East Coast and Adams University would see Sarah’s true nature.
