“Nonsense-
William said slowly, “Think carefully before you answer.”
The words “damn it” were on the tip of my tongue, but I swallowed them back.
I said sheepishly, “Mind your own business. I just get jealous easily.”
William’s smile grew even wider, making him even more infuriating.
“There was no date last night. I forgot to bring your friend a gift, so I went to the nearby mall to buy her something. After I bought it, she said she wanted to treat me to a movie. I refused, but when I saw it was the one you wanted to watch, I agreed and went to see it first. Oh, our seats were bought far apart.”
I blinked, thinking, “See it first?”
Every time I asked William to go see a movie, he would cleverly pick up on all my questions and discussion topics.
He never let any of my comments fall flat, always providing plenty of emotional value.
I always thought it was just because we had good chemistry.

I never realized he would always go see it first, doing his homework in advance.

I asked quietly, “What about after the movie? Why didn’t you got back to the dorm?”
William squeezed my hand.
“By the time it ended, it was almost midnight and the dorm was locked. So I got your friend a hotel room, and I went to an internet café to play games all night. Smell this cigarette smoke. on me—I’m practically saturated with it. Then when I checked my phone, you hadn’t replied to a single message. Even if you wanted to avoid me, you didn’t have to go that far, did you? You’re really heartless.”
So he hadn’t slept all night–no wonder he didn’t dream.
That meant my name wouldn’t be on his forehead either.
I said awkwardly, “I wasn’t avoiding you.”
William chimed in, “Ah, right, right, right, not avoiding me–just thinking I went on a date with another girl, so you came to spy on me with those two big dark circles under your eyes.”
I glared at him but couldn’t help laughing.
“I told you I was just passing by.”

William sighed lazily,

“Mait, last night Sabrina said she wanted to pursue you, and you said you’d consider it.”
“Oh, I did say I’d consider it.”
My face instantly turned cold as I tried to pull my hand away, but William pulled me directly into his arms.
Hechen roughhoused together, so physical contact aan’t unusual.
But this kind of intimate distance was a first for us.
William lowered his head and said, “I had to consider how to pursue you so you couldn’t run away. I had to try at least once. When we were kids, you protected me when my pants fought you have to take responsibility for me. I got you hospitalized, and that’s when I told myself I had to take responsibility for you too. I’m not content being just your friend, and I’m even less content with sitting at the head table at your wadding just to eat dinner, I like you. But look what happened–you figured it out yourself. Seems libe all those wat dreams Ive been having weren’t for nothing

I blushed. “Oh.”
“What? William shook me dissatisfiedly, saying through gritted teeth. I say all these romantic things to confess and you just give me one cold word
I slowly raised my arm to show him the watch on my wrist.
“It’s not that–it’s just that your major class where being late once gets you docked all your participation points seems to be starting soon, my dear boyfend.”
William’s eyes widened as he grabbed me and started rushing toward the academic building, not even bothering to go back for his books.
I was shocked. “Why are you dragging me along?”
William laughed as he answered, “To have you accompany your boyfriend to class.”
