Chapter 28
Nathan wasn’t ready to give up. He pleaded, “Is this still about what happened before? Are you afraid Sarah will steal my attention again? I swear, that’ll never happen. I promise on my life–I’ll only love you, treat you right, from now on…”
“Stop lying to yourself,” Julia cut in, her voice icy. “I don’t love you anymore. This isn’t about anyone else. You’re the one who exhausted all the love I had for you. I told you–I’m never coming back.”
Without a second thought, she knocked the ring out of Nathan’s hand and flashed her own, showing off the ring on her finger.
“I already said yes to Vincent. There’s no room for anyone else. Just let it go.”
Each word hit Nathan like a punch to the gut, leaving him gasping for air.

His chest ached so badly it felt like he was being ripped apart. He could barely catch his breath, every inch of him weighed down by heartbreak.
“No… please, don’t…” Nathan’s voice was barely a whisper now, stubborn but weak.
He was still hurt from last time, and Vincent’s bodyguards had no trouble dragging him away.”
Julia’s smile returned as the ceremony went on, and it felt like someone had stuck a knife straight into Nathan’s heart.
Her smile belonged to another man now, and it had nothing to do with him anymore.
They used to be so in love, promising forever under the stars. Now, they were just strangers, stuck on opposite sides of a line that couldn’t be crossed.
If he could do it all over, Nathan would’ve rather died in that earthquake than let Sarah save him, than owe her a debt that ruined everything.
At least then, he would’ve stayed in Julia’s heart as an unforgettable memory.}
At least she would’ve remembered him, loved him, mourned him for a lifetime.
She wouldn’t have suffered so much, wouldn’t have been so hurt.}
He truly regretted everything.}
Suddenly, Nathan coughed up blood, anger and grief overwhelming him until he blacked out.
In his half–conscious state, he felt like his soul floated away, slipping back through time.”
The earthquake was about to hit. Chairs and tables shook, people ran everywhere in panic.}
“Nathan, wait for me!” Sarah’s sweet, clinging voice followed him.
But Nathan didn’t even look back. He didn’t care about being polite–he just ran.}
Faster. He had to get out. He didn’t care whether he lived or died, as long as Sarah didn’t get the chance to save him.§
Maybe fate heard him, because Nathan managed to escape the quake as fast as possible.”
The aftershocks wouldn’t stop, but he kept moving, ignoring his injuries, focused on just one thing: get away.&
He finally made it to a safe area. The mountains were blocked, so rescue vehicles couldn’t get through. Only a few helicopters landed to drop off supplies.
One helicopter stood out, marked with the Haskins family crest–wealth and power in one glance.
With Sarah watching, Nathan climbed aboard alone, not giving her any chance to “save” him.
He rushed home, desperate, and pulled a tear–stained Julia into his arms.
“Julia, I’m back, It’s just us, now. I’ll never leave you again.”
“Okay!” Dream–Julia cried, hugging him tight, unwilling to ever let go.
After that, Nathan used his power to force the Keller family to send Sarah abroad.
He kept Julia close, afraid of losing her all over again, never letting his guard down.
They spent their lives together, loving each other, truly happy.
But dreams never last.
When Nathan woke up, Julia and Vincent were already gone, halfway across the world.
He knew he’d lost her for good.
His body was falling apart, and even if it wasn’t, it was only a matter of time.
He’d always said he couldn’t live without Julia. That without her, he’d die.
Years later, after a lifetime of happiness, Julia heard about Nathan’s death by chance. She froze for a second, then let the news slip from her mind, unbothered.
