Blake’s face turned dark, and he spun on his heel and left, leaving Ashley standing alone.
Ashley bit her lip, a flicker of jealousy in her eyes.
Then she looked at me, giving a soft, fragile laugh. “Skylar, do you know what Blake and I are shopping for today?”
“Things for our wedding! He’s just so sweet, I told him we could just make do, but he insisted on buying everything new for me.”
I smiled faintly and nodded, pointing to the items in front of me. “Oh, really? Well, go ahead and pick them out. I can recommend some things.”
Ashley actually pretended to browse, and soon picked out a huge pile of items.
She seemed convinced that I would refuse to sell to her out of jealousy.
But she was completely mistaken. Who would turn down money?
il quoted her a price and looked at her with a beaming smile. “Thank you for supporting my business, dear.”
Ashley’s face alternated between green and white. She mumbled, “I forgot my money, I’ll come back another day,” and scurried away.
I watched her hurried retreat, a cold sneer on my face.
A few days later, Blake’s mother, whom I hadn’t seen in a while, suddenly appeared in front of my shop.

Her shifty eyes fixed on me, filled with blatant malice.
“Skylar, how dare you run away from your in–laws? Do you have any respect for us?”
Soon, a crowd of customers gathered in front of my shop, watching me as if at a show.
I hugged my son tightly, my expression Icy. “What do you want? I have nothing to do with the Blake family anymore!”
Brenda scoffed. “Nothing to do? Isn’t the child in your arms my grandson?”
“Either you give me back my grandson, or…”
She didn’t finish her sentence, but I clutched the child in my arms tightly.
“You’re dreaming!”
A glint sparked in her eyes. “So, you’re a sales assistant here, aren’t you making a lot of money every month? You can give the money to me
instead!”
I gritted my teeth. So that was her plan.
“Don’t even think about it! I need that money to pay Liam back!”
Brenda reached out. “Then give me the child!” “If I have the child, I won’t have any trouble getting what I want from you, you little hussy!”
That was her true intention. I clenched my jaw, holding my child tightly, refusing to let go.
By now, more and more people were gathering, quickly causing a crowd in the department store.
Reluctantly, the store manager came out to maintain order.
Seeing the scene, he frowned. “Skylar, why don’t you go home for now!”
Brenda immediately became agitated. “No! I’m telling you, this sales assistant is trying to steal our family’s child! If you let her go home, I’ll report you! I’ll report you every single day!”
The manager looked at me with a conflicted expression. After all, Liam had introduced me, so he couldn’t say much.
I understood the dilemma in his eyes and spoke decisively. “I’m sorry, Manager, for causing trouble. I quit.”
With that, I left, holding my child.
Brenda tried to chase me, but was hindered by the crowd of onlookers and couldn’t catch up.
I returned home, looking at the child in my arms who didn’t understand what was happening. Tears streamed down my face.
Why? Why did they have to destroy the stable life I had finally built with their own hands?!
Liam heard what happened to me and rushed over.
After I opened the door for him, I wiped away my tears. “Liam, don’t worry, I’m fine!”
Liam was silent for a moment, then suddenly spoke. “I’m sorry!”
My tears could no longer be held back. Liam pulled me into his arms, and I wept bitterly!
