Seryna’s question gave Zachary pause. He thought, “She doesn’t
know Jeremiah, her brother?”
The punch made Jeremiah shiver in anger. He yelled in
disbelief, “Seryna! I’m your brother! You don’t recognize me?”
Seryna stared at him with a frown. Her tone was aloof. “You’re
my brother? I don’t believe you. No brother would kidnap his
sister.
“If you’re my brother, Dad will not tolerate you! He must be mad
at raising an evil man like you!”
Jeremiah thought, “She’s blaming me and Dad together.”
He looked at Seryna’s delicate features and believed she was an
inapproachable troublemaker.
“Seryna, don’t play coy. You look fine. Let it go. Can’t you see
how pitiful they are?”
Furious, Seryna chuckled and looked at Jeremiah, her gaze
boring into him. “I was kidnapped and beaten up. They
humiliated me and tried to assault me. I barely escaped. But my
brother is telling me that my kidnappers are pitiful, so I should

“Pitiful? How?”
Jeremiah’s brows knitted tightly. His handsome face turned
dark.
He turned to the three men not far away. They were looking at
him, pleading with their gazes.
Jeremiah said to Zachary, “Officer, the whole thing is a
misunderstanding. Seryna has been away from home for a
month. I sent them to bring her home, not to kidnap her.”
Zachary squinted his eyes. “Sorry. We received a call and found
Ms. Willard. Her hands and legs were tied, and her face had
bruises. This is a kidnapping case. We’re investigating it.”
Jeremiah’s heart sank. Only if Seryna agreed to drop the charge,
the case would be thrown out of the window.
“Seryna, you’re so vicious. Don’t you have a heart? These men
have families. Now, they’re being framed because of you.”
Jeremiah’s tone was authoritative as he sneered at Seryna.
Seryna got it. Jeremiah was a selfish bastard who was only trying to protect Tehila.

Zachary was amused by Jeremiah’s demand. “Making
kidnapping sound righteous. You’re a first.
“Mr. Willard, look at the videos. You’ll know who’s the vicious.
one.”
“Humph! Seryna calls the police to get our attention. I know it.
Seryna, these men are my friends. This is just an accident.”
Seryna ignored Jeremiah. Talking to him was a taste of time.
“Officer, I was standing on the sidewalk. They took me away by
force and verbally assaulted me. It was all this man’s order. He
said he was my brother and acted like he was the kindest and
most forgiving man in the world. I think he’ll be willing to go to
prison for his friends. After all, he’s so nice to his friends.”
Of course, the law wouldn’t allow it.
Jeremiah froze. The first time he saw Seryna, he was scared.
Jeremiah hated that feeling as it made him think Seryna was
back to seek revenge.
Zachary looked at Jeremiah dismissively.
He turned to Seryna and smiled gently. He thought, “What a
beautiful face.”

Then he said, “Don’t worry, Ms. Willard. We’ll handle this case
with justice and fairness.”
Finally, Jeremiah had to drop his attitude. Planning a
kidnapping equaled committing kidnapping.
He wanted to convince Seryna. “Sera, I never planned to kidnap
you. I merely wanted to bring you home…”
Standing not far away, Natalie spoke up in an icy tone, “Mr.
Willard, you surely have a funny way of bringing someone
home. Only a monster will hire help to kidnap his own sister.”
