Chapter 24 Calbert Is Back
Jeremiah’s gaze was cold, and his tone was snide. “Tila, Bruno is
your fiancé. Why should you give him to Seryna? You’re Ms.
Willard. The engagement has nothing to do with her. Anyway,
a bumpkin like her can never be good enough for Bruno.
“If she has any sense of shame, she won’t come home
tomorrow.“”
Tehila was pleased, but she hid it and said softly, “Jeremiah,
don’t say that. Sera will be hurt if she finds out.”
Jeremiah scoffed and thought, “She’s just a stranger. I don’t care
about her feelings.”
Rashad looked at Jeremiah and thought, “What a fool. Seryna is
a great woman. Hence, she’s more useful to us. Tehila only has
her good look. She’s lucky to have Brunell.”
Rashad said, “Alright. Stop it. Sera said she’d write an
understanding. You can go home tomorrow. Spend the night
here.”
Jeremiah was stunned. His father was letting her spend the
night in jail?

Jeremiah refused to stay in the lockup. How could Seryna do
this to him?
He vowed to make her pay for messing with him.
Jennett looked at Jeremiah worriedly while cursing Seryna
inwardly. “Jeremiah, just bear with it. You can be free
tomorrow.”
Nobody had made Jeremiah suffer like this. If he spent one
night in jail, his reputation would be ruined.
“Mom, please bail me out now.”
Jennett realized there was nothing she could do and left with
Tehila.
“Mom… Mom…”
Zachary huffed, “Shut up! Sit down and stay there.”
Jeremiah glared at him, but shut down when he saw Zachary’s
baton.

On the way back to Devona’s house.

Seryna saw the bank notice. 16,000 dollars. How disappointing.
Rashad only cared about his interests. He promised to give her a
company but had been stalling.
About Jeremiah, he was bound to have a rough night. Certainly, after tonight, he’d go after her harsher.
But he’d fallen into Seryna’s trap. If she remembered right,
Brunell would be back tomorrow.
It happened before. Brunell and Tehila had engaged, but Tehila
still wouldn’t let Seryna off the hook.
Tomorrow night, Seryna would help Tehila with the
engagement.
Back in Devona’s house.
Devona was still up for Seryna.
Seryna ran to Devona and sat down next to her before saying
sweetly, “Grandma, I’m sorry for worrying you.”
As Seryna safely returned, Devona relaxed.
“It’s fine, Sera. I’m glad you’re home safely. About Jeremiah, let
me handle him.”
Seryna was relieved. She had nothing at that moment, so she

After the rebirth, Seryna knew that Devona was the only one
she could count on. Jeremiah was just a selfish bastard.
Seryna smiled, “Whatever you say, Grandma. Jeremiah’s actions
will only bring the Willard family down and ruin the family’s
name. Grandma, let him stay in the police station.”
Devona was pleased by her reply and said, “OK. Go to bed. I’ll
take care of the rest.”
Seryna helped Devona get up and said, “Grandma, let me bring
you back to your room.”
“OK!” Devona smiled fondly.

The Sun was up.
Calbert opened his eyes and took in the strange room. Oddly, he
had a dreamless good night here. Calbert was reluctant to stop
such a good sleep. Still, he sat up slowly.
It had been a long time since he slept this well.
Calbert knew it wasn’t because of this room. It was its owner.

A paranoid amusement filled his eyes, and a gleam of
possessiveness flashed across.
Calbert got out of bed and went to the bathroom for the
morning routine.
Keenan had prepared toiletries on the counter. Seryna kept the
small bathroom tidy. The few items inside were all in order.
After the morning routine, Calbert went to the living room. He
looked at Keenan and said calmly, “You found her.”
