Chapter 28 Revealed Connections
“It does resemble her, but Madam Evelyn appears more elegant,” Reese noted sweetly.

“How about this photo?” Dakota then showed Reese another picture, this one featuring a handsome man and a beautiful
woman.
Reese recognized the man; he was Morgan. The woman, however, was unfamiliar to her.
“This is Morgan’s wife, Skyler Sage.”
“Mr. Morgan was married?” Reese covered her mouth in shock, the gossip seemingly weighty for a mere nanny like herself.
“He and Skyler had a brief marriage, but she fell ill and went abroad. Morgan couldn’t keep her here,” Dakota explained.
“Skyler is like a child I watched grow up, cherished by her father from a young age. She couldn’t stand any distress, and with Morgan in the entertainment industry, rumors were inevitable. Their marriage quickly deteriorated due to the gossip.”
Dakota always regretted not taking better care of his old friend’s orphaned daughter, letting her leave the country ill.
“This…” Reese found it difficult to comment on her employer’s private life.
Dakota did not continue, knowing Reese would not spread the word. Instead, he went upstairs to call his son.
Morgan, well–established in the entertainment industry, enjoyed a degree of freedom. When not acting, he traveled the world, living freely.
Surprised by Dakota’s call, Morgan responded, “What brings this on? Decided to think of me?”
Morgan’s words were harsh. When he and Skyler divorced, Dakota had almost disowned him. In front of the Sage family, he was whipped publicly, suffering greatly.
Morgan didn’t harbor resentment, but their relationship remained strained, occasionally marked by sharp exchanges.
“The year Skyler went abroad, she gave birth to a daughter, said to be stillborn. We only received ashes. Do you remember?” Dakota asked, touching on a painful family secret that would typically be handled privately due to deep sorrow.
Skyler had vehemently forbidden the Powell family from contacting the child, and they were helpless.
Morgan, reminded of the past, spoke in a somber tone, “Dad, that’s all in the past. We agreed not to bring it up, right? Skyler has moved on and started a new life abroad. That child… we just weren’t meant to be.”
Morgan seemed carefree, but deep down, he was not without sorrow.
“Do you think, just maybe, that child might still be alive?” Dakota’s words struck like thunder.
“Have you been to the doctor lately? Got your medical reports?” Morgan asked, concerned for Dakota’s health.
“I’m fine!” Dakota scoffed.
“I was watching a variety show. There’s a girl named Isabelle on it. She looks a bit like Skyler; and somewhat like your mother when she was young. You and your mother look the most alike, which is why you were always my favorite. Think about it, who could look like both you and Skyler?”
Dakota pressed the point.
“There are plenty of people who look like us both,” Morgan replied skeptically.
“That much of a coincidence?” Dakota was unconvinced. “She has a red teardrop mole by her eye, just like you.”
Morgan remained indifferent. “Have you considered that this might be a plot?”
After speaking, even Morgan doubted his own suspicion. Their marriage and divorce had been tightly concealed, hardly known to outsiders.
How could someone fabricate such a plot eighteen years later to approach us? Could the baby girl from back then really still be alive?

I’m heading to San Visol right now,” Dakota decided resolutely.
He was a man of action; having suspicions, he needed to confirm them.

“Dad, don’t get so worked up. Let’s find out the truth first,” Morgan tried to calm his father, but Dakota had already hung up.
“Reese, would you like to visit that variety show set?” Dakota asked Reese as he came downstairs.
Reese was stunned.
“Mr. Dakota, you’re not really going, are you?”
She was at a loss for words, Dakota’s impulsive nature taking her by surprise.
However, from what Dakota had just revealed, it seemed that Isabelle, this presumed fake noble, might indeed have deep connections with the Powell family. She might even be Morgan’s daughter.
